I'd stick with the rotary for now,get it stripped and see what went wrong, there are loads of spares around and rebuild kits aren't a bad price, although it 'should' of lasted. The only thing that crossed my mind was the run in period, hard to do in this car of course but road cars are supposed to do 1k run in.

PhillipM said: They have enough issues in the road cars, they're bigger time bomb than the rotary offroad, forever munching rings and liners even with a dry sump and extra oil sprays. They seemed to do OK at rallying.

Maybe, they probably don't get banged on the floor every 10 seconds though The shock loadings aren't the same either, seen enough dead scoobys in the sport to want to stay away from 'em! And I certainly don't have the pennies to build a rally spec motor out of one either It's a pity as they're pretty ideal size-wise!

I think we need more suspension travel, another one of those pictures where the wheels don't reach down to the floor....

Bigger wheels would fix that.

Nah, you know how you have to stick a beer mat under a table leg to stop it from wobbling when one is shorter than the other? Well, I reckon the problem is, all the wheels are shorter than the others.
4 beer mats and we'll be sorted!

Why do you even need wheels and tyres? They're never on the ground.

If you want a revvy motor like a rotary, but with pistons, that places you firmly in Chateaux Honda - no idea how much an S2K engine would cost you though. Are turbo engines an option? Worth an offer, perhaps? (no idea what your budget is) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-ALTEZZA-RS200-3SG...Cheaper than an S2K engine, revs up to about 8k, makes about 210bhp, 160ft-lb's. 3SGE's are very reliable in a road car - no idea how it would hold up spending most of its life a few foot off the ground and being subjected to the punishment you'd put it through

^^If you put that next to ours you'd see just how big it is. And you've only got to watch Robbie Gordon at Goodwood to see what the handling is like Even the class 1 and Class 11 buggies are a good 10" longer than ours - and a good chunk wider too. Definately having a good look at the S2000 motor atm Sonic, but I'll do some research into those too, cheers.

Still can't see the purpose of wheels on that. A pontoon on each side and one of those propellors off the Everglades boats would see you right.

Possibly for sale, minus engine currently, but could be sorted as a running car depending upon what you want, has a fair few spares that may go with it too. PM/email me if interested.

Right, we had this up for sale for a while, had a guy come to have a look, decided he wanted it if we could stick a cheap 2-litre 4-pot in it for him, so we sold off some of the rotary bits, did a bit of research, bought some parts and started chopping the frame... ...A month after that, he came by to say he was very sorry, but he couldn't afford to do it after all, and could he have his deposit back....:/ Anyway, since we'd done the research, started chopping, and bought some bits, and we had a bit of spare time over winter....it seemed rude not to give the old girl another chance She's had a bit of plastic surgery courtesy of Mister 9 Inch (angle grinder, get your mind out of the gutter): As the new engine is longer than the rotary, we chopped out the centre of the beam tube so that we can push the transaxle forwards into the cabin a couple of inches to keep the rear overhang similar, we don't need that reinforced part there any more anyway because it was what the old torsion bars used to run through/work against, so it was basically a great hunk of steel tube and plate doing nothing.
