I bought another pack of spray cans for the car a few months ago and I could finally be bothered to start finishing the painting. The A pillar has been in primer for a little while so I got that painted today, just have the rear screen surround to finish off before I can ask my mechanic to come and take it away for welding and whatever else it will need.
Like all my rattle can jobs, it looks immaculate if you look at it from a distance.

Oddly enough, I was just waiting for some bits to arrive before posting an update. Car still here, can't ever see it going if I'm honest.
I have managed to find an insurance quote that is reasonable meaning that, if nothing changes drastically in the insurance department, I will be on the road in the Jag after passing my test.
I've got a few small bits and bobs coming into the dealer this week and I'll be ordering a headliner from Myrtle in the next couple of weeks. If the insurance situation doesn't change, the car will go in for welding around January/February time and be ready for me to run around in, in March.
The bodywork etc. will be sorted once the car is on the road as and when funds allow. It really will be a dream come true if the insurance quotes stay as they are for next 6 months.

New OE camcover gasket turned up at the dealers today, now fitted and there's no leaks. The plug well seals were okay with no leaks so I left those as they were and I put some RTV on the rear half moon seals as it turns out I hadn't done so when I initially replaced them. I also properly torqued the exhaust manifold nuts and that's cured the annoying blow.
Just waiting on some hydraulic fluid and I still need to get round to ordering a headliner. Should be ready for welding after this, I've had a quick look underneath and can't find anything wrong other than the rot. Brakes are fine, bushes seem okay, no rust on fuel lines, no leaks, all seems in order. After the headliner, the next update will be welding but I don't expect for this to be completed until late February.

Nice one Kamil, it's quite satisfying to do a headlining as it doesn't half improve the car inside. On the XJ-S you have to take the rear seat and buttress panels out which allows a pretty good view as to what lies beneath with the bodyshell so I'm not sure if you'll have to do the same on yours
As I was leaving for a meeting this morning, a courier pulled up and got out a very large flat box. That could only mean one thing. the headlining has turned up!
I checked the colour was correct when I got home and got on with the task at hand. I managed to get it in the car in between a couple of meetings today. The difference really is huge, especially as I've got used to no headlining in the car for the past couple of years.
Seats down and flat, NSF door card off, centre console out
A great deal of swearing later, it was in! Pictured this evening once I'd refitted all the trim and interior and yes, I need to retrim the roof console

Well, some notable progress. The car is back on the road, MoTd, taxed, insured, fuelled, the lot. The 3 months till my 17th will now drag even more!
Dropped it off with a restorer who sorted the sills to allow it to go through an MoT. Oddly for an old Jag, after siting around for 4 years, it only wanted a steering gaiter for the MoT!
Sill work was a little more expensive than it could have been as I opted to have the inner sills repaired too. Getting it back on the road is very much just the beginning, before I can drive it, I'm hoping to put a couple of replacement doors on it and sort the rust around the rear window.
Some pictures for now;
