I will agree, there were points of the roadtrip where I wish I was in the Jag. Though I have to say, I've begun to form an attachment to the little Aygo so that may well end up a keeper too. It's been used and abused and has always done everything asked of it - it's been up tracks in the Alps that 4x4s gave up on!
Clocked up just under 300 miles since Wednesday night. Happy to report that, mechanically, the old thing is still pretty much perfect and hasn't really deteriorated which is a bonus!
Untwisted a couple of the seat belts, as this didn't seem to bother the previous owner, and stuck it in the garage for now to properly dry out. It's also in a desperate need of a wash and I'll probably stick it on SORN as of next week. For the winter at least. It's never really been adversely affected by periods of inactivity thankfully.

Time has flown by and it's been nearly a year since I bought the car back. It's been held up in my mother's garage as I haven't had the funds to fuel it or time to run it as a second car really.
MoT ran out in April and I've since been gathering some bits and pieces to get it sorted again. Shouldn't need welding this year as structurally it should be fine following the work I had done prior to sale. Even if it does, I am now equipped with a MIG welder following the OH's purchase of a '72 Fiat 500.
Mainly a few hoses that are showing signs of weeping - it was leak free when sold but came back with a couple of drips. The main thing I think it will need for an MoT is an exhaust this year. The, presumably original, back boxes have both blown holes out the bottom with the intermediates soon to follow - it is now far more burbly than is acceptable. This can be blamed on short runs and a build up of condensation I imagine.
I may also treat it to a new accumulator sphere as it does occasionally pop up a "low brake pressure" warning. Then again, that may have to wait as the daily is in need of a little freshen up too.
The good news is that I'm starting university in September and intend to spend my student loan wisely so, hopefully, an update of sorts will follow next month.

Three years have passed since buying this back and, despite having collected all the parts for the restoration, this project has not seen any progress. I think I have come to terms with the fact that I've lost interest in it to some degree.
Last month I went to the ACA classic auction and came away with a late model Cooper MPi with the intention of running it over the summer, trying to add value to it and sticking it back in the auction around wintertime. I have since made the decision to keep the Mini and let the Jag go. The Mini is currently a far more practical and usable classic for me.
I will make a separate readers cars thread for the new purchase.

I'm afraid to say the Jag has not been re-purchased for a second time. The Mini that replaced it was eventually chopped in for a modern Fiat 124 Spider. I think the enthusiasm I had for this project back in the day died with obtaining my driving licence. I have since preferred to take the daily on a driving holiday than spend the summer welding a floor pan on a hobby car.
I will start a new thread on the latest acquisition which will hopefully stay with me for the foreseeable and be something I can drive and enjoy rather than need to fettle.
I was at the BCCM in St. Moritz last weekend and there was an XJ40 participating in the event which did make me regret getting rid - it looked wonderful in sunny St. Moritz.

Excellent to have an update even if it means no longer having the car. At least there's a different project on the horizon.
I've been on here nigh on 14 years and feel like I've watched a family member grow up with this thread. I must be the only weirdo who's like that though.

Highly unlikely the car will see the road again unfortunately.
It was collected by an interesting character. No inspection was made, it was just loaded up and taken away. My dad was left to deal with the sale as I was at work and the history file was left behind as well. I then had to call to get an address to sign the V5 over and no interest was shown in the parts I had collected to help with the restoration so the signs are not good.
