BMW z4m supercharged
Discussion
its an off the shelf system, a straight pipe design with lightweight and free flow first prioritys, the weight is reduced but 60% over the stock items, the exhaust was imported from the us, one side effect is its massive noise, in some ways great, other ways not so great, it does scrape the uk track noise regs nicely usually being at around 97db at 4500 static tests.

uuppddaattee!
Guys alittle update here.....
ive just purchased AP's 6pot 370mm front and 4pt rear brke kit/pagid Blue pads for the car.......The brakes are MASSIVE, i cant wait to get on the track again with these fitted and really do some work!
unfortunatly the install is up to me as i now have £0 money left!!
i also went for a stud conversion and kics r26 composite open ended wheel nuts....
The car has also had a slightly more aggresive tune with the most aggresive vanos setting and on 100octane fuel the car made a healthly 461bhp....
i will update with pics shortly.

One thing I'm very cautious of is tuning a car that was factory designed to be n/a into a low compression FI engine.
Admittedly the easiest thing to do is bolt a s/charger onto the M3 engine and the power gains are fantastic. However, I worry about reliability.
Have you had any problems at all with the installation e.g. slipping s/charger belts, over fueling on the map, overheating?
It's a very tempting prospect, although the sound of the CSL airbox is calling me as well.
david this kit has been on e46 m3 for 10 years, the evolution is this vt1 kit for the z4ms, ESS have soo much experience in this field its unbelievable....... i researched every possible aspect of the kit before i jumped in, this is the lowest boost pressure available @ 5psi, and the car performs fautlessly, theirs no hiccups, no stutters, no fueling issues..... if you know much about these cars or the s54 you'll know ESS are reknowned for their kits, and the support they give is next level.Admittedly the easiest thing to do is bolt a s/charger onto the M3 engine and the power gains are fantastic. the cars map is completely adaptive, so bad fuel will cause the ecu to pull timing, good fuel it will advance....
the cars performance is solid.... email them and get the detailed info on the packs they do, the s54 is germany's 2jz ;-) forged crank, already their for you ;-) this isnt a one off test this is a developed onver thousands of thousands of miles on countless cars..... if your car breaks these guys will be here for you!!!
the power is mad....... heres a poor vid someone sent to me of mine...... i wasnt going hell for leather here as i was datalogging ;-)

Yes,that's who I was going to begin talking to.
I wanted my car serviced by them but they are a bit far away. I'm about to put it into CPC which has a good rep down here.
yup they are awesome... i then spent the next 7 months moving and generally being an over-reacting fool and litterally cable tieing, moving, finessing everything so its perfect and now it looks factory installed.... very pleased with the result, due to the centrigual blower, power is very linear... its like the s54 has been replaced by a v8, its still got that lovely s54 mechancial sound, but now with superchargers mechanical chatter in the background.........I wanted my car serviced by them but they are a bit far away. I'm about to put it into CPC which has a good rep down here.
the superchargered used is a vortech v3si (silent trim) its near silent.... its only audiable at very low speeds.
doo itt!!!

My biggest issue is none of the charger setups are loud enough. I wish they made a lot more noise. I like engine noise and the sound of a whailing charger would give the engine more character imho.
Your car looks fantastic, many congrats.
the only type of noise i hear is like a mecanical chatter noise.... then the blowoff noise at high revs!!Your car looks fantastic, many congrats.
At low cruising speed you get that typical s/c whistle..... its rather cool.
if you listrn to the poor quality vid you can hear the whistle @ the hairpin, on the higher quality you can hear the blowoffs on the main straight......
re-bled the brakes today after wanting to do a proper flush, also re-torqued everything again to just make sure, and cleaned under arches ;-) i also cleaned the complete wheel barrels, calipers, rotors needed cleaning after brake fluid sprayed on them during bleeding, now all back together and very clean!!

it does drive Realy well....... so much fun... so quick, dsc off, ride the wave and this thing litterally fires off down the road....... its been a labour of love and cost a small fortune, i dont really know what it'll take for me to better it after...... probably in a car costing twice as much.....
its my german TVR :-)
vmax day needed now, and some track fun to enjoy the vehicle to the max....... this year i need to top last ears 7 trackdays!! lol!!
