im guessing 80k plus maybe more.............

The car is a recreation of my idea of "perfection"

power, performance, comfort, useability and sheer FUN!!

Serious set up there. Surely the law of diminishing returns is kicking in with your car though now. It's been done so well that there isnt much more you can realistically improve is there?
After ive finished with this last batch of mods i will start replacing body panels with complete carbon fibre replacements..... id like to get the car to around 1200kg.

They are great.
Robust
I got them to dyno my stock suspension to help select the right valving and spring rates.
I ended up with 320 lbs all round. I had lock rings & pillow mounts allround with remote adjusters on the rears.
That let me get a 35mm drop with a very compliant ride.
It was set ~1/3 from minimum on rebound and compression for road use.
Stiffend it right up for track days.
Three tips
1) make sure you torque up the suspension when it is underload
2) approximate the height & Geo you want then let it settle for a couple of weeks.
3) Once it's settled make sure you get it corner weight and the geo set properly
cheers mikey the kit is currently being built to my spec and spring rates......

i should have it in my hands shortly :-)

ok suspension is on its way.....

cars booked into chris @ center gravity for a complete 2 days session!! every single part of the setup will be finessed. from bump and rebound to camber/ castor....... the car should be pretty AWESOME.

also went for some reinforced rear shock mounts from us company rogue engineering... Completely rebuildable, cnc brackets, will protect the mount points from harder suspension, But the best bit is the reversed top section which allows me to complete remove and install the rear dampers frum under the car... after install no more having to remove the whole boot carpet and trims :-)

That but a Coupe would be pretty much my ideal car, excellent work!
i choose the roadster because it was the car i wanted...... designed as a roadster from the off, hugely stiff chassis, stiffer thn alot of coupe's :-) i have All the fun of a coupe with the best bits of a roadster, roofless on the track is imo motoring nervana, everything the coupe offers but with the the added open air theatre.... this car is MY expression of building perfection :-)

R.e the parts ive used the best available...... vmax is need this summer to test her out against the supercars

As I commented earlier on this thread, I think this car is great.

I dont have the time, dedication, or if I'm honest, the inclination to hone a car to such a degree. But I am in awe of such single mindedness.

Im lazy and bought my cars straight out of the box, but this is the only "modified car" on PH that interests me in the slightest...
Honestly i agree with you...i wish i could afford the 458s/ mp4 12cs and not need to do anything straight out the box!! That would be awesome, unfortunatly those type of car Are alittle way off for me, but i will get their one day for sure..... i already have a savings account opened and funds saving for my dream car.... the mp4 12c... which is WILL own!

until that time i figure if i can get the car to 1200kg.... with this power and kit the car will be a serious performer, honestly right now i cant see a sub 80k car that will outperform this car ive build, if i did i dont think i would have spent the time to do this, but then again its taken 3 years to get the car to where it is now.....

gallardoguy... thanks for the comments, its always nice when people GET where your coming from on a build like this.

BIG UPDATE.....

well its a year on since the s/c upgrade, its proved to be absolutly everything id hope and more, i always promised that id upgrade to the next power stage soooooo

ive now ordered the VT2-500 upgrade package package, this will net me around 500-515bhp......
The overall 60bhp gain isnt the complete story, im going to be gaining good torque, this is done with careful tuning, the vt2 only adds 2psi to the overall total, so im still only running 7psi........
This upgrade path uses all my VT1 parts but adds many upgraded cooling parts, and obviously a new s/c pully.

Those APs are really going to have something to compain about.

The car will be been built Again at simpson motorsport....

heres a vt2-500 e46 m3 running my exact package...........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBJMcDcsZp4

Also remember this will be with with proper 98/100octane fuel...

big update ............... the vt2 upgrade kit came in :-)

so my upgrade kit came through for the vt2 upgrade........ the intercooler and oil cooler are truely Gigantic!! im actually worried my oil temps be get to low :-|!!!!! ill have to keep an eye on that :-) The stetrab unit is truely gorgeous, the intercooler is completely custom for the z4m using ALL STOCK mounting locations :-)

enjoy.........

note new CNC pulleys, also the lightweight crackle black finished boost pipes, these as so light i thought they were plastic :-)

this little lot will net me 505-520bhp :-) The upgrade kit now runs @ 7.5psi.

All gauge pods, gauges and related parts have been recieved and are primed and ready...... @ simpsons on monday for the build :-)

the oil cooler looks like the bottom mounting tab took a battering in transit, luckily this is an unused mounting tab!

enjoy some porn......

z4m + 515bhp = ???? insane??

Nice, 515bhp should feel just right smile. I have around 100 less in my supercharged compact but it is enough to be getting on with (for now) smile

Is that an oil cooler for the supercharger or engine? - If it is the engine you need not worry about temps as the S54 oil filter housing has a built in thermostat so will only open when needed.
its for the engine... thanks for the heads up on that one :-) i didnt realise the s54 has such a thermostat, awesome :-)

The s/c has its own dedicated fluid completely seperate from the engine fluids...... it even has its own build in dipstick ;-)

honestly, id hate to add all this up, had the car from a baby back in 2007 so ive always had the best possible base to start from....

now all the parts have been purchased on group buys, second hand or from the states second hand............ i'll add it up when i get chance BUT.... this has been 3 years spending so its been done gradually to the point where its no strain and i really think the car is worth it....

ive also made alot of money back by selling all the stock parts on.....

the car is used proper;y but only in the dry/ summer time and stored during winter, i enjoy cleaning and pampering the car as much as i do driving :-)

im looking at my recipts and ive spent a scary amount :-)

thanks anyway guys.
