Not looking too different from Richard's own car, back in the days when he was driving for Subaru.

This was his actual car, now owned by a friend of mine, it's visually stock, but mechanically he had the Prodrive boys fettle it more than a little!

not visually stock at all, it is missing the rb5 speedline alloys and is sporting an sti front splitter, and that is just from what i can see from that angle.

Sorry, slight misunderstanding... the car's not actually an RB5, it's an STi 6 in RB5 Grey, the wheels were changed by the current owner, it was wearing standard STi rims when first bought.
There are a few other things that RB had done to the car, P1 Box, Alcon Brakes with no ABS, Full Leather interior etc etc

good spot. Nice car but those wheels are awful.

Evening all, got back from work tonight and ventured out to try and get some artsy shots of the car (was dark when I got home frown )

Personal Favourite:

Bit annoyed it was dark when I got back from work, but got tomorrow to take photos in the light It cleans up well (thanks Dad!), the wheels especially so, having been refurbished 500 miles ago. Once I decide what to do about the Armourfend (basically whether or not to remove it) then I'll claybar the car, before a polish and seal. The paint is a little rough to the touch, but by no means bad, so it should shine up well!

Going to contact the local dealer tomorrow about a new MAF sensor, but other than that, I don't think theres much to do except enjoy it! Actually, I need a new screw for the driving lamp, I loosened it in my efforts to get the covers off, and it fell out somewhere on the way home last weekend when I was trying the lamps out. No big deal, just means I'll leave the covers off until I can get a new one.

Provisional plans include doing something with the brakes, a set of stainless lines, new fluid and maybe some mintex 1144s, with a big brake upgrade (standard calipers) if that doesn't improve them much, front strut brace, and maybe a centre de-cat pipe? like I say, all provisional at the moment, the MAF is my priority.

Cheers,

James

P.S. A virtual cookie to anyone who notices the 'tie-in' on the car...

Well well well, it's amazing what you find on the web these days, I am the original owner of T388KGT and bought it new as a WR Sport from Cheam Motors, Subaru promised me one after I was unsuccessful in my bid to secure one of the 15 22B Type UKs, good to see she looks as I last saw her in late 2003 I actually owned her for 4.5 years and she was the 2nd of three Impreza Turbos I owned. If you have any queries on the car let me know, have to say it was my favourite of the three, the performance and grip were awesome.

Great to see that 12 years on from new and she is still being cherished, BTW I never used the driving lamp covers I thought they looked naff, and the PIAAs look much better uncovered (I had the thicker armourfend put on those too as I recall, along with the other bits and bobs such as Boost gauge, sunroof, door protectors etc)

PS V8 Interceptor handle is probably a bit passe now, as I no longer have the Supercharged 500bhp Monaro anymore, I am onto an R35 GTR now

WOW! I hadn't seen your post mate, this whole thread (and car) proves to me that the world is indeed a small place.

I'm thinking of having the armourfend removed, possibly replaced with fresh, its looking a little tired after 11 years or so. Also just got round to replacing one of the PIAA lights, the armourfend on them has done well to keep the lenses intact, but the reflector was rusty, so I've got a new one to replace.

Apart from a few stickers (PH and the subaru pig - both essential biggrin) and some clear indicators, you'll be pleased to know its still fairly standard. Ian, who had the car before me, had some tasty audio installed, but its a very neat and VERY professional install!

Plans are now for STI tailights (to complete the clear indicator look) and I fancy a smaller steering wheel, looking at a newer STI 3 spokes from bugeyes and the like.

Bit of an update; I did type out a massive reply a while ago with pictures and stuff, then the laptop crashed before I got chance to post it cry

Anyhow, life has continued to be good in the Impreza. Still just using it at the weekends, works skoda took 4000 miles last month so I'm pretty glad I don't have to use the scoob!

A mate kindly offered to take some photos for me, wish I'd bloody cleaned the car first though! He's a whizz with the camera so I'll let his work do the talking, Dan's photos:

Since then, I've got hold of some STI tailights from a scoobynet member, and got round to fitting them today, some gratuitous whoring when I went out for a run in it earlier smile

God approves.

Really pleased with the lights, they tidy the back end up nicely. Also bought some 100W bulbs for the driving lights. PIAA want £25 for the 120W ones, so £3 Bosch 100W seemed spot on! Need to get round to fitting them though...

Comments welcome as always,
Jimbo

Looks good, did you have to get a red bulb for the foglight and amber for the indicators?

The lights came with the bulbs from the previous owner, orange in the indicators, and the fog light has been modified into the tail/brake light, not the reverse as is usually the case. Someone has added a cutout for a bulb holder into the drivers tailight, just need to extend the wire into the plug to see it functional smile

Did my first trackday in the Impreza last weekend at Blyton Park, just up the road from me in Lincolnshire. Its a great circuit thats just been re-vamped, I had a really good day, the car was awesome out on track.

A few pics then, my Dad came down with his camera and kindly took some shots;

(photo by Tom Wigley from here)

The only casualties were the rear brakes, which I knew weren't in the best shape to begin with, the rears had quite a bit of rust round the outside edges, but they've actually cleaned up nicely now, I'm still going to be replacing them, and I'm pretty sure I'm going for some grooved discs and EBC Bluestuff NDX, after some research on the Subaru forums. The wear is weird, and limited to the piston side on each caliper (1 pots on rear)... Not sure if its simply the leading/trailing edge thats cause the wear..?

The drivers front tyre took a bit of hammer, I'm convinced this wear is caused by me going out and not warming the tyres properly one session, as when we swapped at lunchtime (front to back on that side) the rear one took nothing like as much of a beating. Still legal mind, the centre tread is actually quite good, which is surprising.

I really enjoyed it, and fair to say I've caught the bug. Brakes are now top of the list, though I've got a strutbrace and some clear front indicators both on the way. I think we're also taking this down to LeMans as well, so I'll sort some stickers out for that!

Cheers for the nice words and comments, and as ever this album has all these photos in and more: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.101502770...

Cheers,
Jimbo.

My rear pad wore in exactly the same way when my rear calliper seized.

Good to hear another RB is heading down to Le Mans.

Received my strutbrace today biggrin After months of wanting one, and one being lost in the post... I got one for a cracking price of a scoobynet member (cheers mark!)

Also - recently fitted a new gearstick gaitor (custom made in suede with red stitching) and a Momo gearknob, to match the steering wheel. The standard items were looking a bit tired, this smartened them up nicely.

Loverly Carbon:

Gaiter and Knob hehe :

Swapping tyres over at lunctime at blyton, whilst a mate takes part in a spot of ninja bumming. we all worry about him.
