Well what can I say other than one of my best lunchtime reads. Good luck with the work you have done a cracking job to date.

May I ask what your plans are for brakes? I see you have brought the weight down considerably for this car so wondered if there are any issues you have found when on track?

The standard brakes are AP 4 pots all round and I must admit I always found the standard brakes more than up to the job even on track... however last year my front discs were finally past their sell by date so I upgraded them to larger 355mm Alcon floating discs and the brakes are awesome on track, definatelly more than up to the job even with double the standard power!

You can see the brakes in this pic at silverstone late last year

so little update... I finished the tub and had a couple of coats of lacquer applied so I can start to put the car back together, needs more sanding and lacquer at a later date to be perfect but will do for now as I have a deadline.... while it was apart I binned all the stock air con and heater assemble as it was a terrible design and no wonder it was pretty inadequate... the new setup is slightly complicated and took a lot of working out and making... in fact it been a nightmare and loads of work so I hope it works lol
I cut the rear of the chassis off so I could fit a larger diffuser of my own design... in carbon of cause smile so I have a little welding and fabrication to do back there as well.

Anyhow I have a track day booked on the 12th May and only weekends and evenings to get it all finished and back together.... no pressure!

Cracking work Andy. How much lighter is it than stock? Also it is much stornger? Did you just use carbon or is some kevlar in there as well?

Amazing work. How much of the original car is left?

The tub is mostly carbon but reinforced with Kevlar around the door, roof I used a new core material that's a lot lighter and yet More rigid, it's MUCH stiffer than the original tub so much so I could stand on the roof if I wanted... It weighs 16kgs, original was a little over 30kgs.... I've probably over engineered it as I did with the doors.

I've saved another 20kgs cleaning up the wire loom, getting rid of brackets etc that we're not used etc etc so doing the tub has saved around 35kgs... My new improved heater/ air con assembly is 5kgs lighter and I have reduced eh battery weight by 10kgs.... So cars quite a bit lighter now.

In truth there is very little of the original car left now :-)

That's amazing, it looks like a damn near flawless finish which is super impressive! Am I right in saying you're an amateur and this is all just a hobby for you? Or do you actually do this kind of work for a living?

correct, Im an accountant.

thanks for all the positive comments, must admit even I was impressed with the finish of the weave, its not flawless, but its as good as the cheaper super cars that have lacquered carbon (i.e. M600 etc)... only the Zondas and veyrons that I haven't been able to find slight defects in... but they are £1m each so I don't feel that bad as it was all made in my garage with limited resources over evenings and weekends.

No progress on the GTT yet... I have a major building project to start after the Noble is finished as Im building and extension that will include an entire new garage same size as my current one but with a basement the same size below for that batman feeling smile... once the extension is complete the GTT will made progress.
