I've had this for a month or so, bought it from a bloke in Stafford who had spent a lot of time sorting out the suspension, its had new/reconditioned spheres all round, rear arm bearings, anti-roll linkages, it needs a bit of fine tuning but it does actually work!

This is one of the very last of the S1 models, before the S2 shape came out which had more rounded bumpers and other minor changes inside and out. Late registration too, unusual to see a S1 on a S plate.

The 2 litre CT Turbo engine suffers from blown manifold gaskets and over a number of evenings i've taken my time to fix this, not as easy as you would think thanks to very poor access as the engine is not only canted back, its pushed as far back against the bulkhead because unlike the Peugeot 406 Sri which shares the same engine, it doesn't have a brake servo, so Citroen shifted the weight, makes sense until you have to work on it!

Needless to say the old gasket was shot to bits, a missing stud, all the nuts were loose too.

Thankfully all back together now and one job i can tick off the list.

Plans are to increase the boost, fit a 2.25in single box system with a decat, remove the air-con which will not only save a few kg's, but massively increase airflow to the OE intercooler which isnt that bad, its shrouded by the air-con rad.

Boost will be up to 13psi solid from the max of 9psi as it stands now, together with a Pipercross filter and cold air feed i should see power up to a max of 190bhp and more importantly, over 200lb ft, which is enough without getting too serious on it, like a bigger turbo, massive intercooler and aftermarket management.

A good friend of mine who is a guru with the Activa system will fine tune it and clear it of any faults stored within the suspension ECU, and then its ready for a little run around Snetterton!

I'm no stranger to these cars, having had a 2000 model which i have posted previously on here, whilst there was a massive debate about these cars and their handling there is no doubt that in the right hands they will go round corners far quicker than you would think possible and you have to really push them and do something silly before they let go, they tend to 4 wheel drift before that limit is reached anyway!

Here are a few pictures of it. I've not cleaned it yet, so its pretty much as i bought it, the front bumper needs a repaint too thanks to the scuffs but thats the worst part of it, really straight if i'm honest.

2 Thumbs up, always liked the older hydro-susp Citroens - so much more interesting than the competition - glad to see that Citroen are starting to get their mojo back with the current range as well. Enjoy

Less than the cost of a PS3.

This was no good, it was minus 10 here last night and still minus 5 when i went outside 30 minutes ago, managed to prise my way into the car and turned the key. INSTANTLY started before i had a chance to let the key twist back! Considering it had been laid up for a month prior to last week, thats not bad. Saying that, my 54 plate Transit with 4 dead glowplugs also started ok, albeit for a few seconds of lumpy running.

In plan to fit a boost gauge to it this weekend to see what its running, and find my manual boost controller although not much point fitting it at the moment due to all the ice about.

Good news is i found my boost controller today, i've removed the atmospheric dump valve so i can only hear impellor flutter through the Pipercross filter now, sounds quite rude for a Xantia!
