it is quite daft using Dolly Parton isnt it biggrin but if you cant laugh at yourself when you have something like this then there is something very wrong

the only issues so far are

1. its not turned up or wired into the batterys so dont know what it will do at full tilt yet
2. due to the components being so old one of the tweeter seems to drop out but i think this is my fault for not storing them right when they were out of the car - we shall see though
3. when turned up as far as i can take it it makes my rear view screen beep like mad as it thinks someone is pressing its buttons

Not usually my thing, but the work that has gone into this is impressive..

What ever you do, don't switch on the fans full blast, with all that dust you'll look like a mobile snow storm ornament (with sound of course).

As it was valeted a couple of days ago so is now clean (for a change) i took some pics of it while it is in my garage on charge to keep the batterys conditioned, wont bore you with lots of individual pics but will give you a link to the gallery - http://samuelellis.cozywebhost.com//gallery2/main....

BTW i love my uprated rear springs they make it look like it has nowt in the back and yes my garage is only just longer than the car, can fit another car by its side tho so its not all that bad biggrin

Brilliant! What kind of music are you going to be blasting?

Might not be your cup of tea music genre wise but i love metal. Like i say might not be for you but if you want to get the air flowing with bass drops etc i can reccomend the last minute or so of;

'OK Time for Plan B' by Enter Shikari. /watch?v=0qdWKF9u1VE - the correct version. Ive been hankering over hearing that on a decent system for a while lol.

well it got taken for a run in the pennines a few days ago so i could push the install without annoying people too much

Video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOtp0Go3kQM

as it stands its bedding in nicely, got the thing serviced plus had the discs and pads changed allround, now it stops surprisingly well considering what its carrying, acelleration and handling are not too badly comprimised as long as i remember its a big barge of a thing and its still giving me around 35 to 37mpg

On the downside the video screen on my rear view mirror is now really starting to suffer as the front has started to come away - ah well it still works andi appear to have either a faulty acrive crossover or a dodgy RCA as i loose the speakers on one side of the car when everything is turned up - todays job is to replace the RCA cable and see if that sorts it

Then i will have to take a break from fiddling so i can finish moving into my house

Fantastic build, and I've really enjoyed spending the time reading through and following the links. Love the 'mirror' cum control panel, even if it can't take the SPL! And the fact that it's all stuffed in a bog standard looking rep-mobile. Jewish Racing Gold hehe

Cracking job Samuel, enjoy the process of tweaking it to perfection, and GL with the move! thumbup

As i said it is utterly utterly pointless and stupid having my friend build this thing

but thats why i like it, plus as i said its not doing bad on fuel economy, next thing on the list is to blank off the EGR valve to claw back a bit more and to stop it being a smokey beast on full throttle boost

the next thing to do install wise is swap out that RCA cable and see if it solved the problem then measure the rear and front chambers so i can start working out what they are tuned to/what port lenght to change the tining

Never been interested in car audio stuff, but that's nuts. Fair play.

who says that a car with a big installs are impractical

Look it took stuff from my house renovation to the tip with room to spare

Plus all i can say is that Ford really know how to make a good drive as i had to drive it to Cheshire a couple of days ago and around the twisties it was still a good drive once it was up to speed

hehe

There's about as much room in that passenger seat as there is in the back seat behind the (6ft 1) driver in my (tiny) car biglaugh

Love this car.

If you're making smoke and down on power you could have a split in one of the turbo pipes. It's only a cheap rubber one and usually splits around 100,000 miles.

yea ive checked all the boost pipes and they are all fine, no cracks and nice strong couplings

As it has no particulate filter its a bit of a smokey thing anyway but from what i can gather blocking the EGR off helps the car out no end

Fantastic!! Love it, Utterly utterly pointless, which makes it fantastic.

Makes a lot of sense really, you spend a lot of the time in the car, so have something you enjoy being in! biggrin

It did its first event a few weeks ago, a ford event on Easter Sunday - it was quite funny sharing a field with a fair few tuned cosseys but at one point having a queue of people wanting to look at my fun bus biggrin

well apart from conditioning the batterys nothing much has changed since i pulled the faulty crossover out, i still have not got that crossover to the repair shop

but i need to do more re-enforcement of the woofer box as the 16mm threaded rod that goes from the back of the enclosure to where it is welded onto the woofer baffle is flexing at certain frequencys - this needs additional bracing to stop it doing this - i will provide pics of how i will do it over the next few days - all i know is my car will stink of fibreglass yet again
