Looks great! I totally get why you're doing it. Its sad that tougher laws on noise pollution and a change in modifying trends have nearly killed this whole scene and put many car hifi retailers have subsequently gone out of business.
Ive always put good stereos in my vehicles as it is really the only place i can turn it up and enjoy it.
At the moment in the front of my horselorry i have a Kenwood double din, Hertz 3 way kit in door builds, a hertz 8" sub moun ted in a custom box under the passenger seat running off a Massive amp. Sounds good! Brilliant way towhile away the time at a constant 56mph lol.
Ill be keen to see updates on your build

As much as i love my loud music and loud cars (heck i compete in sound-offs) sadly a lot of young lads with the big-ish ice installs have brought in these regulations, this is why i love competing as most of the people competing are not the lets annoy people at 3am with car stereo brigade, i would honestly recommend anyone who does not quite understand this to try and get to a DB Drag event and have a poke round the cars/talk to the ownersIve always put good stereos in my vehicles as it is really the only place i can turn it up and enjoy it.

BTW i have a feeling i will be joining you in the inside lane as i will be treating this thing like it is towing all the time, still its not going to add a huge amout of time to my journeys and the car will still be a comfortable mile muncher

I got into it through In Car Systems (SMC) in Shrewsbury who sadly packed in the car audio side of the business earlier this year.
They had done some brilliant installs in their time competing in SQ.
It would be good to see the industry pick up again.
Hopefully you could be championing the cause!

The industry is not as big as it was in its hayday but soud-off continue on over the country and get good turnouts for SQ and SPL, the amount of people working on other peoples cars with them to make them better up and down the country is quite surprising and every year talkaudio host a free event for TA membbers to go to Oxford and take a look at other peoples installs etc and we have Adam Rayner still championing the car audio cause so its not all bad
Looks like a good build! The equiptment and specs don't mean anything to me though
I used to go around with Lozzy (May have heard of him? Had a cavalier, then a blueish Astra Van) with a couple of 18s in it and then some silly amount of stuff.. One time down on Brighton Seafront the bass was so much you could physically feel your heart missing a beat

Im not a fan or purchaser of aftermarket car audio systems by any means but i do appreciate a good sound system. The OP obviously knows what he has specced up and i look forward to seeing (and maybe hearing?) the results. Good effort that man.
On the OP, i think its admirable that he hasnt risen to the negativity at the begining of this thread. Its his car, his money and his time he is using. If you dont like it then dont read any more about it. Just because its not a thread about an engine rebuild or a track / sprint build doesnt mean it doesnt belong on this forum. This is a car enthusiast site isnt it? And forgive me if ive missed something but the Mondeo is a car, if only just. What he does with his average car is his own choice and as an alternative view he might not like what you did with yours. Just my 2p.
Keep buliding mate, some of us here are actually interested.

Yep i know Lozzy, last car he had iirc was an audi estate with a speaker tunnel in theback of it, be interesting to see what hisnew car will doI used to go around with Lozzy (May have heard of him? ecain - cheers fella, tbh as i said in my first post i expected some negativity as it kind of goes 100% against the grain of most cars but i always think its good to see build threads that cover practially everything, if you really want to see some really really OTT builds then google a forum called termpro and hit the DB Drag sections (Anything with the heading extreme will be an eye opener)
TBH ive been on forums long enough to not worry what people think of me beacause i am as much of a dick in real life as i come across as on the
Im not sure the current progress of the car as i have not been up to my friends bodyshop to check but should be soon
I know a couple of people are following this so i figured i would post some updates as i got up to the bodyshop where the car is today
The inside of the box has been fibreglassed to make it stronger as you can see in this pic
im quite pleased at how well the cars suspension looks to be coping, i have the uprated springs to go on but it is a good sign the stock stuff looks to be coping - get low get low
now Rich has fibreglassed the enclosure you can see where the back of the box will be, not a huge amount of bootspace left but i should still get the weekly shop in
Shot from the drivers headrest in the front chamber
As i said before i know its not the usual pistonheads project log that is posted but i figure some people may like to see something daft

I like it - it's the perfect unassuming family estate to put a massive pointless sound system in. Looks like a stock Mondeo, then you press play and make someone soil themselves (probably yourself included) with the sheer power of the bass.
It's good to be different, otherwise we'd all be driving around in dishwater grey tourenwagens... :P
