Sorry, I don't like it.

I appreciate the challenge in what you're doing but I can't see that it'll run as good as a standard T5 nevermind one with the tried and trusted usual upgrades.

I guess that maybe isn't the point though.

OP, you will fit in perfectly here smile I reckon lower vent more, chunky, flatter wheels. and it'll look great.

And shift like godzilla when chuck norris shows up.

Nice work!

does this have both then? (prob being a bit thick here)
I don't think the M45 would be up to that without some modifications

Interesting project OP, it'll be interesting to watch it progress... I particularly like the subtle bonnet venting..
theres quite a few minis that were twin charged, made 400 whp on a 1.6 in the states,

although with the minis we have found the m45 gives off a lot of heat but responds very well to meth injection

Well as prommised, a vid of the first start, unfortunately I'v run out of hose clips so I can't rev the engine (it just blowes the boost pipe off as soon as i close the throttle)
still to do, fit the oil cooler (I'v just bypassed it for now) modify bottom hose and then tidy up. then comes the slow process of mapping it using a dastek unichip.

Are you likely to get a fair bit of heat soak with the induction pipe being so close the the exhaust manifold and the intercooler being above the engine?

This is what this site is all about. No bickering over which car has the most mpg for a given weather system, or slagging off someone's prefered choice of footwear, or throwing red bull mx5 mixers at mapped 335d's. Just mad, mad people doing mad, mad things to make cars go faster. 'Speed Matters'... says it on the front page.

Love it.

And fast Volvos do indeed rock. Unfortunately mine is not fast at all, and only rocks cause the shocks are dead biggrin

PS What about a vent from a Vauxhall Monterey/Isuzu Trooper? Goes with the boxy shape of the Ovlov. Would link here but the google IMG addy is huuuuge.

Whilst there's no doubt in my mind that this will be flawed compared to a well tuned turbo only T5, I really really like this idea.

I wanted to supercharge my old 2.0 10v Auto just for a giggle, but never got round to it as I kept buying other cars.

Good luck with it and keep us posted!

I totaly agree, but my friend is in the process of building a 400bhp 850 T5 at the moment, and the spendomiter is already in excess of 7k, I hope to achive 350bhp for less than a grand (that includes the price of the car)

And it all starts making sense! I didn't realise T5s were so expensive to tune to reasonable power; probably a good job I got rid of mine when I did.
