Lovely car op!
You're right about the stealth factor. Go, not show, aren't they.
I'm collecting my 300hp non R in a couple of weeks. Been waiting for my mate to part with it for ages, although to be fair I've been too busy to get it anyway.
Can't wait!! Have already got a trackday booked.
You tracking yours?
Edited to add - no mine hasn't had conrods yet.
You getting a mk 1 or Mk2 cupra, both very tunable engines, more so the later. You're right about the stealth factor. Go, not show, aren't they.

Have been toying with the idea of tracking her at some point, will finish off the handling first before i take it on the track.
Good luck with your track day

Looks perfect mate. Great (but subtle) modifications, really like it.
Much appreciated, i've gone for the subtle look, it has been raised slightly and the wheels will be painted silver, this should further add to the stealth look. I'll even paint to the intercooler black when i finally go stage two at the end of the year.RobCrezz said:
Looks like a really nice example.
Dont worry about the T1-Sports, they are much better than the T1Rs.
Yeah im rather pleased with them, very nice tyre. They feel great, very happy. Dont worry about the T1-Sports, they are much better than the T1Rs.

Love the car OP. Perfect.
Mate had one, supremly capable yet understated.
Thanks guys Mate had one, supremly capable yet understated.
Forgot to add that i've also replace my turbo inlet pipe (TIP) with the new 80mm badger 5 TIP. The standard TIP is very restrictive as you see in the pictures below.

And here it is fitted

It feels massively quicker, i couldnt believe what a difference it made. The boost comes in much sooner and harder than before, torque is vastly improved throughout the entire rev range. One of the best modifications i have done for sure.
Let interesting stuff... its in for a MOT at the end of the week, pretty confident it will breeze through. Only time will tell i suppose
Sounds like a great car, i'll be very interested to see some pictures once you've got it. Make sure you start a readers ride thread, any question regarding your car let me, i'm sure i'll be able to help/point you in the right direction.

Aye. Seeing this thread is completely changing my mind about hatches, granted this is a "hot hatch", but my point is that being 18 and driving around in a Fiesta I'm wanting/trying to get away from hatches and straight to saloons/coupés but this sent me straight to the classifieds. Looks great. Keep it up!
Thanks The cupra R's have dropped massively in price over the last year, just after i bought mine. You can pick a really nice one up for 4-5K now. You get a lot of bang for your money, its going to be tricky to find some to replace it with. marky911 said:
Well done just had a read through your thread, sounds like an epic thread. I look forward to seeing some pictures of it. Traveller said:
Just got mine out of the garage this weekend, have not used it properly for a few months over winter. I forgot how much fun they are, that old school turbo rush is great. I need to check out that TIP mod by Badger 5, it looks pretty good.
The badger 5 TIP is a great bit of kit, its not cheap though, the SFS TIP 3" (slightly smaller) is also very good, cheaper too. Both will give impressive results. A must have mod IMO.Well this week i've mostly been buying cleaning products, the plan is to do a full detail and have a go at polishing the car will a Dual Action polisher. A friend is lending me a Meguiars G220, so i've bought a selection of compounds, and a selection of pads, which i can keep for when i purchase a DA polisher.

Don't I effin know it! No sooner than I had bought mine last may (also a black 03 but with tear drop mirrors!) than the prices started tumbling. bks.
Still, I don't regret it - with 68k its got plenty of life left in it.
I have to say, yours is remarkably free of stone chips. Have you had your Brembos refurbed? I did mine myself but am thinking of doing them professionally.
Looking good!
There are stone chips, but there isnt too many thankfully. I refurbed my brembo's, did you re-lacquer then or paint them? I used smooth red hammerite, leaves a lovely finish too. Mine could have definitely have been done better, but i was against a clock in heavy rain... not ideal conditions. Still, I don't regret it - with 68k its got plenty of life left in it.

I plan to re-do them again very soon, probably around the same time i get the wheels refurb. Hopefully next month.
The car detail went well, manage to get all the swirls out the paint. Photo's dont do it justice, looks so much better when the sun is out.

I needed to adjust my suspension so while the wheels were off i gave them a proper clean, once they were clean i gave them a layer of super resin polish then a layer wax to seal it in.

Had a stupid moment when once of the wheels went for a ride and rolled down the slope into the garage, landing on the face of the wheel. [:@] It got loads of chips and scuffed so it'll be back into wheelwerx's this week to get fixed. As you could imagine i was annoyed with me self.
I also gave the inside a proper clean, i used some AutoGleam interior shampoo on the seats as they had a few marks on them. I was very impressed with firstly the results and second how quick and easy it was to use. Great product, highly recommended.
Any way here's how she looked a full day of cleaning....

Sooty needs a clean, got wet and dirty after fitting the roll cage outside over the wknd!
Saw a few pictures of you fitting the cage, must have been quite a task. Must be a real weapon on the track. Hoping to get mine on the track next year. Got a few things planned before i do though... ARB's, FMIC and stage 2 map ideally. May even do the brakes as well as im not sure how the EBC plain disk will hold up to some track time, the pads should be okay (DS2500's). Sooty needs a clean, got wet and dirty after fitting the roll cage outside over the wknd!
What brakes do you have/recommend for track time?

Black is a absolute mare to keep on top of is it not? I always say i will never have another black car but they look soo shiny when there clean.
Thank you. Yep it doesnt stay clean for long unfortunately, since it's been clayed and polished it cleans up much easier. It definitely rewards elbow grease.Black is a absolute mare to keep on top of is it not? I always say i will never have another black car but they look soo shiny when there clean.
Doubt i'd bother getting another black car after this one. I fancy a colour which cleans up easier.

Cheers bud, yer a nice 12 hr stint with my Fabricator, SA Fabrications. But jesus what a difference! I have front and rear top braces too but those are nothing compared to a full cage! So stiff quite tricky on the road but when it smooths out on the twisties its just insanely planted!
DS2500 is an excelent pad, i wouldnt change that - but the EBC discs warp too easily on track and NEVER buy their drilled discs - 2 mates have both cracked a set! I had Brembo max discs before I was sponsored by Forge, and now run their development Floating 330mm disc with 6 pot calipers. They are INSANELY good, while i was just beading in the brakes after fitment i ripped out the standard wishbone bushes due to such big stoppage! next day i replaced the wishbones and went off to the Ring.
But standard R 4 pots with the DS2500 will be perfect for occasional track use
Defo do your ARBs - the rear one makes a world of difference!! I am changing mine all again for racing so will have some cheap H&R ARBs soon but in the mean time, lob on a 25mm rear arb and you will be laughing Custom or Forge FMIC (Not the Toyo noncience!) and I have a Revo2, but Niki at R-Tech is producing some properly good results with Cupras and ill prob take Sooty to him once the Turbo Restrictor goes in. He can also map in launch control
Come to Trax or Forge action day and say hey
Cheers for the advice Andy. Will either get a Forge or Aitec/AmD cooler. Will probably be the next big purchase. Just realised who you are on SCN
Car is looking good, came up lovely after detailing. I've got the same brake stuff to fit, EBC plains and DS2500s. Bit wary about what you're saying about them warping, CupraAndy. I don't track my car but planning on doing a couple of track tuition days at Knockhill this year.
Just saying hi really and so i've got a sub on your thread here too

These cars do clean up well! I have an 03 one too (although with the tear drop mirrors) and she looks a lot newer than her 9 years would suggest. What's your mileage now? How are you finding the map too? I decided against a map after seeing some horror stories on Cupra.net involving bent conrods...
Loving the map, its a must do mod IMO. Turns it into a completely different car. Dont be put off by the horror stories, for every bent rod there is 20 which are absolutely fine. Stage 1 is absolutely fine on standard rods, some would argue that stage 2 is fine, me being one of them. Get it done you wont regret it. Oh yeah she is on 66K at the moment so plenty of life left. Sorry for the late reply, i havent check my RR for while. The Miltek Exhaust is the perfect for me, its not much louder than standard, you tend to notice it more at lower speeds where the note is deeper. Once you wind it around its no louder than standard, at least in the car. There is no drone what so ever at any speed. Once i fit decat and down pipe it should make it slightly louder which is fine with as a little more noise would be nice.
It's been a while since i update this thread. I finally got it on the rollers since fitting the cat back exhaust and TIP.
I was really happy with what she made, the exhaust and TIP gave me a few horses and an extra 35lb/ft.
276BHP and 315lb/ft

Where abouts are you as I will keep an eye out as I live not far from Chelmsford
Also OP, where did you take your wheels to get done? Did I see you mention wheelworkz?
