As the weather was so nice i thought i would give the car a much needed clean.

Here's how its looked before i start..

I needed to adjust my suspension so while the wheels were off i gave them a proper clean, once they were clean i gave them a layer of super resin polish then a layer wax to seal it in.

Had a stupid moment when once of the wheels went for a ride and rolled down the slope into the garage, landing on the face of the wheel. [:@] It got loads of chips and scuffed so it'll be back into wheelwerx's this week to get fixed. As you could imagine i was annoyed with me self.

I also gave the inside a proper clean, i used some AutoGleam interior shampoo on the seats as they had a few marks on them. I was very impressed with firstly the results and second how quick and easy it was to use. Great product, highly recommended.

Any way here's how she looked a full day of cleaning....

Saw a few pictures of you fitting the cage, must have been quite a task. smile Must be a real weapon on the track. Hoping to get mine on the track next year. Got a few things planned before i do though... ARB's, FMIC and stage 2 map ideally. May even do the brakes as well as im not sure how the EBC plain disk will hold up to some track time, the pads should be okay (DS2500's).

What brakes do you have/recommend for track time?

Thank you. Yep it doesnt stay clean for long unfortunately, since it's been clayed and polished it cleans up much easier. It definitely rewards elbow grease.

Doubt i'd bother getting another black car after this one. I fancy a colour which cleans up easier. smile

Cheers bud, yer a nice 12 hr stint with my Fabricator, SA Fabrications. But jesus what a difference! I have front and rear top braces too but those are nothing compared to a full cage! So stiff biggrin quite tricky on the road but when it smooths out on the twisties its just insanely planted!
DS2500 is an excelent pad, i wouldnt change that - but the EBC discs warp too easily on track and NEVER buy their drilled discs - 2 mates have both cracked a set! I had Brembo max discs before I was sponsored by Forge, and now run their development Floating 330mm disc with 6 pot calipers. They are INSANELY good, while i was just beading in the brakes after fitment i ripped out the standard wishbone bushes due to such big stoppage! biggrin next day i replaced the wishbones and went off to the Ring.

But standard R 4 pots with the DS2500 will be perfect for occasional track use smile

Defo do your ARBs - the rear one makes a world of difference!! I am changing mine all again for racing so will have some cheap H&R ARBs soon wink but in the mean time, lob on a 25mm rear arb and you will be laughing smile Custom or Forge FMIC (Not the Toyo noncience!) and I have a Revo2, but Niki at R-Tech is producing some properly good results with Cupras and ill prob take Sooty to him once the Turbo Restrictor goes in. He can also map in launch control wink

Come to Trax or Forge action day and say hey

Just realised who you are on SCN smile

Car is looking good, came up lovely after detailing. I've got the same brake stuff to fit, EBC plains and DS2500s. Bit wary about what you're saying about them warping, CupraAndy. I don't track my car but planning on doing a couple of track tuition days at Knockhill this year.

Just saying hi really and so i've got a sub on your thread here too smile

I'm 8bit pretty much everywhere mate. Yeah I know you from SCN, did wonder if it was you smile

I haven't fitted the discs yet but if they do warp after the day at Knockhill I'll be straight on the phone to EBC!

These cars do clean up well! I have an 03 one too (although with the tear drop mirrors) and she looks a lot newer than her 9 years would suggest. What's your mileage now? How are you finding the map too? I decided against a map after seeing some horror stories on Cupra.net involving bent conrods...

Cheers for the advice Andy. Will either get a Forge or Aitec/AmD cooler. Will probably be the next big purchase. smile

Loving the map, its a must do mod IMO. Turns it into a completely different car. Dont be put off by the horror stories, for every bent rod there is 20 which are absolutely fine. Stage 1 is absolutely fine on standard rods, some would argue that stage 2 is fine, me being one of them. Get it done you wont regret it. smile Oh yeah she is on 66K at the moment so plenty of life left. smile

agreed, you only bend rods if you push 300bhp on standard internals. But no cupra / cupra R would ever top 290 max ever unless it was hybrid or bigger turbo. so go nuts - stage 2 it and dont add a wot box or drive like a moron, remember to warm up and cool down and youl never bend a rod.

Mines on 120k, its a track car and went stage 2 as soon as I got my hands on it years ago. Just get all the supporting mods, behave and reep the Cupra rewards

biggrin love these cars!

Going back to your previous question on my callipers (way back), I just lacquered them. I did intend to paint, but the colour was more orange than red so I didn't bother. I'm thinking of doing them again as the lacquer is looking really ste again. I hammerited my last car which came up well, but I'm wary of brush strokes on the Brembos.

Those wheels are exactly the same silver as mine as it happens, but I think they could do with being darker. The previous owner (or the dealer) who refurbed them just did so over the oringal paint and after a curbing (whoops...) I prefer the original colour which is still visible underneath.

I'm still in two minds about mapping! I want more power, but I can't stand the thought of messing my engine.

Quick question, how is your exhaust when driving? Mine may fail an MOT in the future as the outer skin has corroded through. Does yours drone when cruising, or drown out the radio etc.? I hate aftermarket exhausts that give a continuous flat tone and penetrate the cabin too much.

Sorry for the late reply, i havent check my RR for while. The Miltek Exhaust is the perfect for me, its not much louder than standard, you tend to notice it more at lower speeds where the note is deeper. Once you wind it around its no louder than standard, at least in the car. There is no drone what so ever at any speed. Once i fit decat and down pipe it should make it slightly louder which is fine with as a little more noise would be nice.

It's been a while since i update this thread. I finally got it on the rollers since fitting the cat back exhaust and TIP.

I was really happy with what she made, the exhaust and TIP gave me a few horses and an extra 35lb/ft. smile

276BHP and 315lb/ft

Here's a couple of pictures a friend took

I gave the rear brakes a coat of red paint as they were looking worst for wear.

OP, your car is lovely, I really do love these and would be a certain purchase if I didn't own my GTA and have loads of mods planned.

Where abouts are you as I will keep an eye out as I live not far from Chelmsford smile

Also OP, where did you take your wheels to get done? Did I see you mention wheelworkz?

Ah okay, I was going to send mine off to Lepsoms to be done as I have heard nothing but good things about those guys but I will check out the guys you used.

And indeed I do own a 147GTA and they are very special cars, something different to the usual 4pot turbo...no offence of course smile
