Anyone know who manufactures the standard pads?

Are they manufactured for Porsche or an off the shelf 3rd party part eg Pagid yellow?

Most Porsche brake pads are Textar (not sure if the GT3 is any different).

Textar is part of TMD friction, which also includes Pagid.

Lemmie guess; you nearly died laughing at the quote from your friendly local OPC?

I know I did. Lord knows what I've done with the print-out though chap, otherwise I'd have pinged it o'er.

I do recall being told before that GT pads were supplied by Pagid, but that might be pure, cold filtered bks.

yes

My pads were yellow too (might have been overspray though). Similarly at brunters I found the brakes to be 'good' but not staggering. Things improved with normal circuitwerke however.

Morning Ric/fella's,

'twas Dave at OPC Bolton that told me about the yellows when I questioned them about them. I told a mate about the yellows on my car pre-purchase and he questioned whether they were OEM, he had a 996 GT3 mk1 when they first came out, but couldn't remember the pads it had. So I put the question to Bolton and that's what they told me, that the Mk2 came with P. yellows as standard...

Other than that I know nothing. smile

What kind of feel/performance are you looking for out of the pads?

something that doesn't take a couple of braking efforts to get some feel into them and that don't announce my presence when I pull up

either that or maybe I should learn how to brake laugh

Mk 1s are Textar and black, Mk 2 Pagid P20 or P40 compound (can't remember) and are yellow (they're not a compound available via any other route than OPC) You've most likely got RS 19 or 29 in there at the moment)

I suppose you want a more standard set up then, with softer compound pads that won't last as well on track?

I find that if I drive the car in the manner intended ie. spiritedly, then the brakes heat up nicely, retain their heat and stop the car nicely and without squeal.

If I commute in the car then the brakes squeal whenever I come to a stop. I suppose the pads are good for the intended application. Fast road and track.

Might be worth swapping for the Pagid Blues in that case. They tend to be a little softer than the longer lasting yellows.

Henry,

Could they be RS19's/RS29's?

edited: Just seen your edit, looks like with N rated tyres, Porsche have a thing with Pagid pads also...didn't know that. Cheers Henry.

Ok, done my homework, the original Pagid manufactured (but ONLY Porsche supplied) pad for the Mk2 six pot 350mm front brakes is the P90 compound.

No doubt it will be a development of the RS19 or 29 modified to work reasonably well from cold (ish) on the road and withstand some spirited track/road use without squealing etc

Hi,

I know not genuine but I run performance friction rotors, bells and pads they do glaze up with road use and squeel, but soon work brilliant on the track/fast road use.
