If Kelly ever gets quiet, I have threatened to give him my random st house collection of boring junk to fettle and maintain. But I like him too much and he works too hard, so it won't happen until he needs it to. TBH, I think the mere prospect of an oil service on my E46 touring keeps him beavering away on other projects ;-) I loved the Testarossa detail where he took the engine out, detailed the engine bay, changed the belts etc and then put it all back together, better than new... genius. The best tech crossed with the best detailer; legend has it he can spray as well. B4stard. I can just about change the spark plug on my mower.
And your coffee making skills are somewhat lacking too ! vomithehe

However, in your defence, your polish/wax and numerous other smelly concoctions are bloody marvellous !

How are you Dom ? Well I hope ?

Any chance of another free sample of wax ? the last one you gave me is running out . . . biggrin

Hi erics, your car now looks fantastic which is nothing short what I would expect from KDS.thumbup

As a side note on the thread.

I have known Kelly for over 20 years having both been apprentises at the same place, I left that place of work about 10 years later.

Three years ago I came into contact with him again when he started KDS detailing and he became one of our customers. So it's safe to say I've watched Kelly build the business from nothing to what it is today. Many now regaurd the guy as the best in the country for the results he produces.

In answer to a few of the points in the thread, these are my thoughts anyway.

Not wanting to put a too finer point on it, as a Static based detailer who works only from a unit ( i.e. everybody knows where to find Kelly for a chat ) and with a very small workforce, the stress and pressure the guy is under to turn around cars in a respectable amount of time and within acceptable cost levels are tremendous. I can personally vouch that he regularly works around the clock and I mean around the clock to finish a car for a waiting, apprehensive and excited customer.

I have personally witnessed Kelly spend well over 1.5 hours ( in the mean time others where waiting in the back ground for a 'chat' with him about their P&P ) showing a guy the in's and outs of what is achievable, products and methods that will be used etc to then book the car in for the full works. The next day he rang and cancelled with no reason given. Apparently this sort of thing can happen on a regular basis and although part and parcel of running a succesful business can put his work so far behind he has to work through the night just to get back on track.

Knowing Kelly as I do, he'd love to give each and everyone one of his customers his undivided attention, it's customers that pays the bills at the end of the day, but sometimes that just isn't possible. Being stand offish at times I suppose is his way of coping with it all. Get him on the right day and time he'll bore the pant's off ya, once he starts talking to you he doesn't shut up laugh

I have learnt over this period that if Kelly is able to talk and has time he'll make me late for my next job, he can talk the hind legs off a donkey at times. If he can't talk I fully appreciate that and leave him well alone. It's nothing personal (hopefully hehe) although I can see how it can be misconstrued in that way.

Kelly might only have a few words at times but as a totally dedicated professional and perfectionist his work speaks volumes. smile

Just my thoughts anyway which hopefully will give a little insite smile

Couldn't agree more Westy....

Old thread, but I wanted to post as I have literally just had my Porsche detailed at KDS, and I wanted to say how chuffed I am with the results (see images below).

KDS were a personal recommendation from a friend, and I also checked the threads on here which are 99.9% completely positive. If you need further convincing, you can check his new website where you'll find pictures and testimonials from owners of some extremely valauble motors (far more than mine!) that he has had through his state-of-the-art workshop.

On meeting Kelly, I felt TOTAL confidence in leaving my car with him and his team, and knew straight away I was dealing with a master of the art. To address the notion that Kelly doesn't know how to treat people - I can only repeat what most others have said about him - and that is he is actually very courteous and spends a good deal of time with his customers discussing options and evaluating a car's paint condition before taking your keys from you. It's immediately obvious Kelly is so passionate about what he does, but just bear in mind that he is also **massively** busy!! So occasionally, he might have a particularly important or time-consuming job on, and you just need to exercise a little common sense and patience if he hasn't got 3 hours to go through every little detail you deem worthy of his expert attention! Look at it from his perspective: he has loads of happy existing customers, and must gets a lot of NEW enquiries every week, so he is under huge pressure to keep delivering top quality work to maintain KDS' excellent reputation (at what I believe are very reasonable prices incidentally) - so just be sensible and book your car in via appointment, or come back another time! People who 'just drop in' expecting the red carpet treatment need to have a word with themselves imho - be reasonable!

Anyway, the main thing anyone needs to know about KDS's work is that it is first rate. Bar none.

I can see why! I generally don't like the look of Porsches, but that is a real babe!
