The exhaust that I feel sounds the closest (I've only heard mine from inside the car) is this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJYDCGp_S78

I think it's a closer sound than the videos of the actual exhaust. I don't know if others agree?

That's amazing. If he can make it sound like that, he should be charging more clap

Note the CEL on the dash for this custom job. No such worries from Gert's exhaust though.

Have to say that mine isn't nearly as loud as that. Do you have the 100 cel CATS too J_D? Was thinking of getting them fitted myself but don't want to go too loud.

I agree, there is a small amount, but I can't say it is drone exactly, more of just an exhaust note, difficult to describe. BUT....I had expected something, as it's impossible without flaps to have no sound at all at cruising speeds, but have it loud at all others. Also, I find that for me, at 74mph there is literally no 'drone', and actually the 'drone' even at 70mph is completely acceptable, and almost unnoticeable.
Glad it's not just me. Agree it's is v v minor (and totally droneless from 70mph+), but just wondered whether it was possible to make it totally droneless, particularly at the lower rpm range mentioned. I know im being v fussy, but just found this and think it could be worth a try:

http://www.planet-9.com/reviews/cayman-performance...

If anyone else has tried this, please let us know how you get on.
UPDATE: Just tried the mod in the link above. There's a definite improvement to the (previously minor) drone at low rpm. It's more of a deep exhaust note now rather noise/boom mixture. Very easy to carry out .... Although I took it to my local MOT guy who sorted it out in 15 mins for me.

ABSOLUTELY love this exhaust!!!

I'll ask Gert to do this when he fits mine.

Just got back from getting mine. Gert's hospitailty is indeed legendary, what a genuinely top guy. I'm not sure where people are having problems with sat-nav. Mine took me right to his door.

As for the zorst, it's as has been described before, it's MORE. So that bit of noding you used to get between 2300-2700 rpm is still there, it's louder, but it's still not bad at all really. At 70-80 mph you can now hear the exhaust, but it's no louder than the road noise also present. Everywhere else, it just sounds magnificent. More depth, more everything. I love it.

a short write up

I might be able to tweak the recorder a bit (it's still clipping like a bd with it), but I nipped out tonight and grabbed a couple of samples.

This is the Carnewal GT exhaust fitted to a stock gen1 2.7 Cayman

Juansolo - this sounds awesome. Where did you put the recorder? Inside or outside the car as I can't hear this level of detail in my car.

Did you get the sports cats installed or is this just standard GT muffler?

That's an 'exhaust mic' taped to the rear numberplate. Sampled directly to a laptop on the passenger seat. I went for MP3 also as YT compresses the hell out of it even more. I think with some tweaking I could probably get it clearer, but I won't get chance to play with it again for a few days.

...and there are tunnels in Leeds that need driving through...

It's the GT muffler only, standard fannymolds. Driving around with the windows open gets a lot more of the effect. I'd consider this an utter no-brainer if you have a Boxster. That, all the time, in the open air. Bliss.

No, I only have the backbox, all standard apart from that. I didn't think mine was that loud either, and I still don't, but my friend said he felt it sounded loud outside, comparable to that. So I've happily accepted his comment. I drive now, almost without fail, with the windows open, its odd how much difference there is. Tunnels are now my favourite bit of any journey.

Popped over to Gert's place at the weekend - very nice trip. I can only confirm what others have said:

Gert is a top guy and very easy to do business with,
His 'guest house' is great - particularly enjoyed emptying the fridge ;-)
The GT exhaust mod is simply wonderful.

Very happy customer. I have a feeling I'll be going back for some suspension bits before long.

I've been wondering about getting this mod done but - tbh - these clips sound really 'raspy' to me and not good at all, sounds like the exhaust has a big hole in it!

Despite the best efforts of all involved, none of the clips really do it justice. 'Throaty' would be how I'd describe it, particularly at low revs when it 'barks' or 'snarls' when you blip the throttle. At higher revs it just wails - wonderful.

Thanks for that - might see if anyone in the London/SE area has one to hear it first hand (when I get mine back from the OPC).

I'm Surrey based, not SE I know, but if it's of any help, and no one is closer, then by all means, give me a shout.
