Anybody ever used these people for a remap?
Came across their site. Seems very cheap. And a nationwide service. Do remaps differ a lot between companies? And what exactly is the procedure? Is it possible to return a re-mapped car to standard?
Lot of questions - have never done a remap on any car I have owned. But having a 996tt I feel the urge!

The place I was going to suggest is called chip wizard in rochdale.
The guy is a top bloke and does lots of Porsches being not far from warrington I 'think' he does a lot of work for the well know independents around there.
when I visited he only had a 2 wheel rolling road but he can rent out a 4 wheel one near by.
oh it will be a bit more money as his maps are specific to your car done live on a rolling road. Not some standard flash thats just raised the rev limiter or whatever.
I'm sure others can chip in (get it) with closer places.

Nineexcellence have done a few on here recently. You'll go away with hard copy facts, not bullst numbers.
Thanks...have had a work with them earlier...seem good people charging approx £2grand for stage 1....seem reasonable? Certainly very different to £150 from remap science!Anybody heard of Paramount Performance in West London?
I'm very happy with the remap I got from 9E, and I know I'm not the only one.
I would be a little careful when you're making comparisons that you are comparing the same things. There are two things I think you need to check :
1) That the company you use makes sure your car is running correctly - i.e. that they are datalogging after the map and making sure your car is running with the correct AFR. As I understand it, making a turbo faster is quite easy - but, you do need to make sure you are faster AND that the car is running correctly. Otherwise, your very fast car could have serious issues down the line.
2) From a cost perspective, make sure you're comparing like with like. When I had my remap with 9E, that included the map, replacement air filter and new DVs. I am quite sure that a £150 remap won't get you the DVs and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't get you the air filter either.

Yep...I didn't speak to remap science as they seem a little too cheap and hence as you say cannot be like for like...I would be a little careful when you're making comparisons that you are comparing the same things. There are two things I think you need to check :

Spoke to paramount Performance, and they say their map adds about 45-50bhp...so I agree not same as 9E who claim to add about 70ish. But they say they do not fiddle with the rev limiter, and their map gives you more mid range power around the 2.5-3k rev mark. They claim this is more usable and that you should not fiddle with how Porsche made their cars out of factory and hence leave the rev limiter as it is (they also claim due to the mild-ish remap - no parts need changing)...at the moment, just trying to research a little more as the people I call are all offering different advice that often contradicts!
If memory serves, Paramount are right next door to RSJ - why don't you give Joel a bell and ask him if they've used them on their own Porsches.
I've had a Boxster S on PP rolling road for work, but it was just a straight dyno so couldn’t offer any help ref tuning.
Did you manage to get your overboosting problem sorted mate?

I will use one of the three recommended companies I guess: 9E, Regal or Fearn.

What do you mean by turning up the turbo?
Increasing the boost available. It's a very simple job. The trouble is that to do it safely ie without other bits of your engine getting buggered, takes a bit more skill (as has been described).I like the comment from the people who said "that's the way Porsche made it so we don't fiddle with it". What apart from the remap then?
