SAE - thats the US measurement and rounded up 1 for the american audience presumably !!

German measure is DIN (ps) and this is what Euro brochures quote in, i.e. 420hp (DIN) which translates to 414.25hp SAE

The scuderia systems tubi exhaust upgrade for the M3 sounds awesome this will be purchased if i'm not impressed with the 997 carrera S.

Not sure what the latest costs for the M3 are, however for the M5 it used to be about £1800 or so new. You could get them on the used market but a little like hens teeth to find. Usually they are easy to sell on as if any come up they are snapped up very quickly. Being hand made stainless steel they do not corrode for a very long period.

You would keep your original exhaust anyway so at resale time you can swap back or sell original with the car - should enhance the sale and not devalue at all.

I have informed my insurer and the difference is marginal for me.

E92 M3 is boring. Too much of a compromise. The 997S is much more special.

I own a 997 Turbo and An E46 M3.. Both Coupes both manuals... Both great cars..
The Porsche though is the superior car and so it would be as it costs a lot more to buy so expectantly so

That was his 1st post after 30 months of lurking, don't pick on him. He's clearly a slow burner, good things to come i'm sure.

The 997 would give you a more sense of occasion. They always put a grin on my face - even just pootling to work. Your budget would just about get you into a base 997 Gen 1. Not scaremongering but Gen 1 997s do suffer from bore scoring, resulting in engine failure. It is rare but does occure & results in a new engine. If it was me & I wanted a 997 Gen 1 I would buy from a good indy & get the bores inspected (boroscope) and/or take the car to hartech to get the bores relined for peace of mind. Or, save up for a Gen 2 997. The gen 2 has a DFI engine & much less likely to suffer any engine issues. Depreciation is very slow on 997s. I kept my Gen 2 997 for a couple of years & sold for almost the same price as I paid for it. They are great cars & really get under your skin.

I sold the m3 and bought a range rover sport after I found out I was going to be a dad for the first time. Then just before my daughters birth I sold the RRS and bought a 996 c4s with PSE. Was great.

Now she is 4 coming on 5 and I drive a 15 year old polo! Mind you I do have two kids now and a larger house.
