I picked up my 997.1 at start of July. After 2 weeks of ownership the car went into limp mode and was recovered back to the dealership.
Cut the story short, but it had 2 scored cylinders and is currently being rebuilt by Hartech at the dealers cost. This car had full history and only 42k on clocks.
Was purchased as summer car and got 2 weeks use from it, Gutted to say the least
I wouldn't be too gutted if the dealer is paying for a Hartech rebuild Cut the story short, but it had 2 scored cylinders and is currently being rebuilt by Hartech at the dealers cost. This car had full history and only 42k on clocks.

Whilst Hartech can undoubtedly build an (essentially) bulletproof engine, the chap needs to ensure that the 'dealer' hasn't just opted for the cheaper rebuild without any of the Hartech engine improvements.

The dealer has got the cost of engine stripping, replace broken parts and rebuild. I was also given permission to speak to Hartech direct about further upgrades to do while engine is in bits as i will not be paying the labour. I have went for all the things they suggested to prevent future issues and also make it better for future resale valueI'm looking at a 996 3.6 that has had a rebuild by Hartech a few years ago. I had a copy of the invoice, which I sent to Hartech and was given a very quick email response. While the owner seemingly just had a straight rebuild rather trying to prevent future issues I do know where I am with the car. While the guys at Hartech were great and I can't thank them enough for the help I do hope I don't have to speak with them again
After collecting my car on 2nd July, I noticed that it was using a lot of oil right away so I contacted the dealers I purchased the car from and made them aware of the issue. Come 12th July the car went into limp mode and had to be recovered back dealers.
Fast forward to 4th December, Well the car is now back in my hands after the dealers removed engine and sent it off to Hartech for rebuild.
The length of time it took was only due to how busy Hartech was during summer and staff going on holidays. Not forgetting i work at sea and go away for 2month trips at a time. So the car was ready around end of October but I was at sea.
Anyways big thumbs up to Alexanders Prestige in Yorkshire, the aftersales and support from these guys was outstanding. Also everybody at Hartech who I spoke to via phone and email during the whole process.
As you can see I can direct from airport to pick the car up
