Yeah, picked up on that about the seats, but still a 2002 car smile

The sports exhaust fitted may make up for the lack of seats, which could probably be retro fitted for less than an exhaust, if that's something you would have planned for?

When looking for my 996T I was after one with sports seats, but ended up with the comfort seats. I've been in a friends 996 GT2 with sports seats, and actually found them uncomfortable, and no more supportive. Having come from fantastic sports seats in a 964, they were a big disappointment. I wouldn't get hung up on them personally.

Good points and valid points especially as I'll stick a plate on anyway.

On the seats it's just a personal preference and I think it adds to the appeal of the car. I had thought about the option of retro fitting seats if necessary, but it's expensive to do well.

Keep them coming please smile

I agree about the sports seats, during my time with 996t i found the seats pretty uncomfortable. Found they seemed to have a bulge right at base that pushed into my back.
But i know a lot of people find them very good.

Hi
I have just bought a 2003 996 turbo from a guy on here big spec and low miles and no sports seats. My previous C4S and Boxster S had sports seats and I found them un comfortable on long runs and were worn easly on the bolsters, I and 6ft 3in. The comfort seats I find very supportive and like new even after 8 years. Colour makes a big difference grey will mark and show age Black and Blue not so much. Just my thoughts and obversations.

Thanks Paul.

I presume you are referring to the seat colour rather than exterior paint colour? I could live with a dark blue leather, not grey or beige or red!

I go under the knife (again) next month to remove some metalwork from an emergency shoulder re-build - apparently motorsport is not the only passtime that can be dangerous. laugh

If that were not the case, you might have competition. Happy hunting and post pics when you (hopefully) find one!

FWIW, somehow I feel the 996t is aesthetically more pleasing (exterior NOT interior) than the 997t, whilst the C2s are the oter way around. All IMHO, of course.

Sounds painful! Hopefully my search won't be althought prepared to wait for the right car smile

Fortunately, not too painful, but incredibly frustrating for an adrenalime junkie!

Gory details here FWIW: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I really gelled with the Ssorts seats, and wouldn't buy a 996 without them (my 996t has them)

Given the varied opinion presented here, I would strongly suggest trying both (if you haven't already).
Although admittedly a minor consideration when deciding on seating, but I think the car also looks a lot better with the sports seats.

Obviously a bad time to sell back end of the summer and run up to christmas coupled with economic uncertainty, and IMO the cars are worth more than the current market values, what can you purchase for that kind of money what delivers the epicness of a 996 Turbo, nothing.
So owners are thinking sod it i'll hang on and enjoy it, & who can fault them, that said there are still a lot for sale.

The price of 996tt is bound to go down, there are now some very nice 997tt for sale at very good price. There is one at JZM that looks very good for 55k

I've been browsing for a long time about buying a 996 turbo with the spec I want - sports seats are one of them (embossed too) and there are surprisingly few turbo's specced with them.

What spec are you looking for?
Not a black / blue interior
Must be tiptronic
Must have aluminium dials
Must have sat nav
Not silver exterior.

This is pretty much my perfect car but I think its too expensive for a 2002
