Hello,
i just booked my car for the 1 year service (inc. oil service).

The car now has KM 10500 (6000 miles).
I bought it in May last year with KM 6500 (4000 miles).

The East London Porsche Center quoted me GBP 384 over the phone.
I find this very expensive (?).

My Z3M oil services used to be well below GBP200...

Any advice? comments?

(i need to do servicing in an OPC as my car is still under warranty.....)

Thanks,
Eric.

Eric

Sounds about right. My recent 12K service was:-

12K service done, RMS fixed, creaky roof fixed, dashboard rattle fixed (behind airbag)

£343.86 total

12K Service = 156.40
Oil = 103.50
Pollen Filter = 29.76
Alum Seali? = 0.13
Window Cleaner = 2.86
= 292.65

+VAT

=343.86

Chris, was it the East London dealer too?

My car in a Jan02.
& had its yearly service in May last year (2003).
(no oil though).

Is it really reasonnable that to do an oil service every year?
(the car may well have 12000miles in june05).

I am just wondering if it is really necessary to do it now or if i should wait december 2004?
If i wait untill then, does it invalidate the warranty?

Regards,
Eric.

If you want to bring the cost down further, supply your own mobile 1. it will bring the cost down by 50 quid,

i've stuck with the yearly service with mine even in most cases where i've only covered 5k a year but still had the oil changed each time

Paul, that' s exactly the answer i needed...

just a few more precisions....
*how many liters of Mobile 1 do i need to bring them for the service?
*which type Mobile 1 do i need to bring them?

am i stingy? i can' t help but find a bit OTT that Porsche takes £384 when BMW takes £160 to do the same job on a similar type of car => my previous z3m...

Thanks again,
Eric.

Hi,

I always get 5 litres worth and get it from halfords, works out at about 50 quid.

other things (although only small) top up all your fluids as well before you go, that way they won't charge for that either.

on average my service bills have been around the 250 mark, give or take a few quid.

Finally got the car back from OPC East London.... i am so happy! (so far...)...

I insisted that they stick to the oil service & brought my own Mobil 1. They charged GBP 273...

ALSO!! they discovered the infamous RMS failure (Rear Main Seal). Which they repared under warranty.

I am a bit concerned by this failure happening so early in the life of the car!

Anyway thanks all for your replies, it helped a lot to reduce the final bill!!!
