The boxster s, never did anything for me. The spyder immediately jumped out and was bought before even being driven.

I have enjoyed my spyder so far. The roof is actually well engineered I think, and you buy the car for the days when you have the roof off. The wind noise is a lot greater roof off than with it on. So if that is too much, the noise roof up is irrelevant.

I think the spyder does have something quite special. It is a lighter weight model with unique bodywork. I think that makes it quite a special Porsche. It wasn't limited, but I don't think sales were huge, so it will already be quite limited in numbers.

I always think the spyder looks as special as something 1-2 classes higher.

You can't buy a new one any more, unless it is sat in stock some where.

The cayman R looks too similar to an S. In fact an aerokit S looks just like it. I had a cayman s and I think the spyder absolutely blows it away in terms of driving and feel.

It will always be harder for Porsche to push through another spyder with the new boxster than it will a new R with the cayman.

Impressive forward planning there! 20 year plan!! Who can possibly answer this with any degree of accuracy?

We could be driving around in electric/hydrogen/nuclear cars with regulations so strict you will not be able to smoke, drink, speed, fart or have unprotected sex with an animal.

If you have the money, buy what you want and enjoy it now, before our ecu's get limited.

you can configure because there are stock cars.

But no more 987 Boxsters or Caymans are being made.

He's not - you can't order a new car to spec anymore!

£50k and worried about residuals?

Shouldn't you be trying to decide between a 964RS and a 964 Speedster?

Not worried about residuals, just interested in views about future desirability. I want a new, new car too.

You could register it Jan 1st 2012 which could make it the only 2012 Spyder?

Sorry, as others have confirmed, it is too late for own spec new. May be lucky and find one or two delivery mileage in uk? June or July they stopped production of the spyder.

I'd love to know accurate final production numbers for the spyder.

The Spyder does have that special ‘something’. I took one for an extended test drive and got stares and pointing everywhere I drove it. The Spyder feels like a special place to sit, regardless of it only having a small performance improvement over the S.

The dealership have already registered it

But if it's a nice spec and I get a good deal, I'm as flexible as a jelly in a 2CV

No, Tonbridge - is there a black one in Mid-Sussex?

The chap at T'bridge said there are 10 left - 1x red, 1x black and 8x white.

Only black or red acceptable!

Black wheels go with the decals and roof nicely.

So mid Sussex told me yesterday. FWIW I'm having the same thought as you wrt a fun but usable track car.

I'd never use a Caterham!
