The R is 20mm lower for me that would be the sensible limit. Porsche have spent many many hours getting the best out of the car and checking so much more than any after market tuner aver will.

Ok may be my statement of not going below manufactures specs may have been a little heavy handed, but car suspension is a complicated thing and is never just a question of fitting some lowered springs and all is well. Have you ever looked at a car that has been lowered by 60mm or more and looked at the angle of the wish bones? The wishbones point up to the wheels not down. Now think about how that affects camber control in compression. The wish bone works in an ark as its inner pivot point is fixed. You have now shorted its ark due to the fact you have lowered the car, the same happens to the steering arm. If you are interested in bump steer look at this articular http://www.longacreracing.com/articles/art.asp?ART... it goes in to far more detail than I am going to type out after a couple of scotches wink

And their in lies my point if Porshe made a GT3 speck Cayman I am sure they would not just fit a set of lowered springs as it would seem that has been done to the OP's car as he still has the PASM shocks fitted. They would develop the car rather than modify the car. The OP asked what would be the down side to lowering the car and I gave an opinion I still stand by that. The amount of times I have driven a lowered car and the car hits a bump mid corner and the car darts off one way or another and the owner said is because it has stiff suspension and its a bit fidgety because of that. When actually its because the car has been lowered with out thinking of the consequence of what has been done. Still I hope the OP's car has been done well as I would not want to see him have an issue with his car.

Like I said a lot of people are just not up to diagnosing handling issues by deriving the car.

He might have the Bilstein Damptronic setup fitted that I mentioned above which is a coil over system that utilises PASM but replaces the shocks as Bilstein are the manufacturers of PASM for Porsche.

Ok it still looks a lot lower than 20mm off stock. If it has coil overs then hopefully other things have been considered.
