This one looks OK. Full leather and 17 inch getting me excited.

I'm not exactly on point with 2.9 pricing. And I've no idea if early 2.9 cars have softened recently but it feels OK for a gen 2.

I thought I'd share some pictures of a 54 plate Boxster 987 I bought. It's done 150k and is the roughest I've ever seen. It looks reasonable from a distance but it's a total mess.

yikes

You bought that? With actual money? I'm curious. What have you paid for it? And where did you buy it from? A private seller or a salvage yard?
Come on, give us some insights. This is a lot of work, but since I'm familiar with your other threads, I'm sure this will be interesting thumbup

Yeah, it's end of the the road for this. You'd be certifiable to spend money trying to make it nice. It's so rough, never seen one like it. Thought I'd share photos to give others an idea where to be looking on a cheap one.

Every aspect of it. Engine ran nice but water pump was on the way out it burned oil on initial start up. The rear silencers had rust holes so big you could put your head inside. Holes in the carpet, rips on the door cards, etc. Rear main seal had been leaking so long it cured itself.

That said, it drove really nicely and the gear change was the best I've felt on any Boxster. The exhaust manifold bolts always snap inside the cylinder head, this was on original bolts and not a single one snapped. Really odd, I expected every one to looking at the state of it.

My 1997 2.5 Boxster flew through it's MOT yesterday with only an advisory for a number plate light which I'd forgotten to check.
The hardtop will go on for winter soon and it will remain my wife's daily driver. It's a lovely car.

My 2007 Cayenne next week.

Bit random I know

Cayman gen 1 with turbo kit

Looks pretty bodgy if you ask me

I especially don't like the way that big plate under the gearbox has no fixings at the rear of the car

And the engine view shows the red silicone pipe with what looks like a sharp elbow I can't quite understand

Do we think the intercooler will get any airflow where it is positioned?

Pop the arms off to make the roof manual and enjoy the autumn...

It's on BBS Sport classic II split rims too

I like the blue colour coding on the wheels

Is it Lapis - me favourite if with the tan interior

Dont forget the Hardtop option for the winter

Looks like Lapis (which mine is), also looks like the Sport Classic 2's are from a 911, not a Boxster, as rears are wider and flatter.

Random indeed, and bodgeroo in the extreme.

I guess it makes sense for the guy to buy it as a bit of a plaything to see if he can make it work, plus he'll get some revenue from YouTube for the videos, but you'd be running a mile if you wanted a sensible car.

Dunno about the intercooler but it looks very badly placed. Most (i.e all) aftermarket turbo kits seem to suffer from some significant compromise somewhere and I wonder how many of them ever work properly. This is no exception.

Also this

Gen 2
2.9 manual
94000 miles

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283672239924

There is a standard looking 2.9 with 17 alloys and only 65000 miles on ebay now for 11999 and it is a more genuine looking dealer so I think this needs to be below the magic 10 to make it a deal.

All i did was ditch the ditchfinders and wheels which attracted negativity when it was at auction, the price i paid is mentioned if you go back.
I didn’t make a profit, just enjoyed nearly 4 years of ownership of my poverty pork thread purchase.

Yes it looks good now - good enough for me! But if you want it to look fab it will need more attention. Its no worse than any other 25 year old car tbh but it drives lovely.
