First trackday in the 4 grand Boxster done. It's bloody brill, at track speeds the chassis definitely came alive, started to move about a bit more, lovely and balanced. Note I'm now running 225 fronts which I think was a wise choice, no understeer!
A nice porsche trait is the big brakes too, no bother at all from them.

Didn't all go well though, I was nearly falling out of my seat, and the day cut short due to coolant pissing out onto the rear right. I immediately thought the worst (tank cracked, burst hose, water pump shat itself?) but it turned out to be - the bloody coolant cap! Pissing out when pressurised. Couldn't find anywhere local to buy one so had an early bath.

However note I said FIRST trackday!

I had a similar experience in my first track session with the car. It's superb!
Incredible chassis that really does come alive as you say.
Falling out of the seat was the only issue I had. Now resolved with some rather lovely Recaro Pole Positions.
Can't wait to have another go.

Toying with the idea of some stickier rubber but a little worried about oil starvation and whether my suspension could cope. Probably best I leave it alone and just enjoy.

That looks great on track. 986 look so good in Guards - I might be a little biased though, having recently bought an early Guards 996.

Do Porsche drivers usually give each other a wave?
I passed a Guards 986 yesterday and waved, he ignored me.

No

Never been on a track day yet in my own car. Keep talking about it so need to get on with it. Can you let us know if any more weekend options come up please?

I normally do the 'raise a few fingers from the top of the steering wheel' type acknowledgment, sometimes get a response, sometimes don't smile

This could be worth a punt if the history stacks up: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Mentions 55k, but the MOT history suggests it was at 52k circa 2005 and then 26k in 2006, with it slowly creeping up year upon year.

Regardless, cheap either way. Does appear the OSF wing has been keyed...

A decent seat makes all the difference

I've got the design 911 fitting kit sat on the shelf now my Boxster has gone - if you're interested
adapters, sliders & side mount (with seat belt fitting)

Bloody tidy that. 17s and drop and I'd be happy!

Even with "high" (pah) miles this is great buy imo. If only I didn't have a 986 gathering moss outside my place, I'd be on a train...

If we're posting pics of our ancient hairdressers cars, here's the missus' 93k 52 plate Boxster.

I keep trying to tempt her into a 987.2 PDK, but she loves it to bits and plans on driving it until it eventually dies of old age.

TBH, I'm not sure a box need much besides a Spanish box and to be otherwise in good working order / condition. All the extra "toys" are dead wight to me - I like the fact that my 2.7 doesn't even have aircon (aside from slight demisting challenge when it's damp outside - solved by dropping the top!) hehe
