Yes

So people can criticise if you paid too much.

If you're sensitive about that sort of thing, then I suppose.

Not particularly

At £10k for a 2006 38k mile, fsh, mint 2.7 manual, I am very very happy.
And that's all that matters to me tongue out

That sounds a fair price, and the car looks lovely. Enjoy!

Totally. If its not CAT C, I think it would be a keeper. Engine rebuild (10k max.) then average 15 years stress-free 911 driving. bandit

Also, one of the cleanest MOT history I've seen on a 996 so far! tempting idea

Can't see if it's an S but when I think I coughed up 21k for my same colour scheme, same miles Cayman three years ago, albeit higher spec, I'm saying totes barg.

I'm not sure, but I'd say that the margin between Cayman and boxster is increasing (percentage wise).

I'd prefer a Cayman (just aesthetically) but boxsters are a bargain at the moment

Looks a good price, especially from a dealer.

I'd prefer a Cayman on all levels (exception of the 986 which doesn't have one and looks to my eye very nice - better with age in fact) but tbh, the premium just isn't worth it in terms of the drive imo. The Cayman is bang on for me as a car, but the fact that the 986 and even 987 boxsters are as little as half the asking it seems mad to overlook them unless you're allergic to a vert, shirley? Same goes for 986 / 987 versus the 996 / 997 to a degree, albeit that the experience will be a bit different (and back seats are useful on occasion, for stuff if not people).

Really nice cars in this thread - keep it up folks.

Agree, but I just can't convince myself to buy a convertible.

Man up.

The next time you're driving in the morning after a few beers and a dirty ruby and you need to let off some gasses imagine how much better you'd feel if you can drop the roof and feel at one with nature.

From everyone I have spoken to the V6 especially the early one is no more economical. A 955 weighs anywhere from 2250kg to 2530kg according to spec if you believe Porsche. It really needs the V8s 340BHP & torque to move it around.

I sold them new and we always had to run the V6 on super unleaded otherwise it felt sluggish, so there was never much (if any) of a saving on fuel. It was good to upsell people in to an S though...

Personally, I think that's the sole reason for models such as the Cayenne V6 - it's not true of all "base" models, but when the manufacturer tests the limits of acceptable levels of motivation (donk-wise, y'see), I'm cynical enough to believe it's purely to persuade people to spend more cash for the next model up. Which is often a diesel sadly.

'Entry' level cars are usually a loss leader, i.e they make a loss on each one they sell (or next to nothing). By the time you decide you want a/c, bigger wheels and have driven the base engine you move up the range and the manufacturer makes money (or more money)

I've not driven the V6, but doesn't the V8 in the S lunch itself?

So unless it's a Turbo - even more complex and expensive - what other early Cayenne makes a solid povvo Pork option?

Can lunch itself although some turbos in the US have as well. Mine is going onto thicker oil for exactly the reason. The V6 suffers timing chain issues as well, certainly in the R32 & Galaxy.
