Looks nice. Think I would find the extra 1500 for a 3.2. #biased..

As Edo has said - buy this one.

I wouldn't buy that one, it has already appeared in this thread in January when the price was £2500 less and the history sounded very fishy when I spoke to the seller.

You're right, I think I actually spoke to the bloke, there was definitely something in the history / some issue I didn't like and I think it was £5650 IIRC but the guy wanted shot of it.. Was it an intermittent warning light or something?

Just checked, £5150 reduced from £5600, 10 year gap in service history and the previous owner had been running it wan an engine light on for a few months...

I quite like them in guards red but I was really after a 3.2 if 986, I think I would find the 2.7 too slow, and the 0-60 time would be slower than my X5 which just seems wrong...

Looks like a nice example though, shouldn't think it'll hang around too long.
My car is a 3.2. Rare full leather too.

Just to clarify.

Not sure if same car, this had had an airbag light on, i have fitted a new airbag module.

It was dry stored for a few years but run regularly and mot'd every year.

It just had a clean bill of health and an mot (needed a rear gaiter for outer drive shaft nothing else). Mot histrory stacks up. Plenty of service history.

I have had the car fully serviced and gone through. Wheels are newly refurbished, tyres within 1k (p zeros) and the hood just re waterproofed with renovo.

Its a great car and runs really well.

I'm fairly sure that was the car for sale in Jan with a few issues for £5150, looks like they have now been sorted hence the new price, fair enough.

Where is that? Almost looks like Chiddingfold.

I'll be using the car all through the winter so a facelift 986 or 987 would probably be sensible... I'll also be putting some miles on it so not too keen to pay for a super low mileage example...

I'm looking at an 05 2.7 987 tomorrow with 130K on the clock, only 1 owner from new with FPSH.
It looks very clean from the photos and has had all new springs in the last few years and is still on the original clutch, reported to be in very good condition. It's on for £8k which seems a little strong to me...

What should I be looking for with those miles?

I'm hoping that the clutch means that it has been driven quite gently, also guessing that it will probably need replacing soon...

Any thoughts?

Cheers, James

Very strong money. A 52k 05 low spec car with god history went for less than 8.5k last month.

What would be a sensible price do you think?

It is supposed to be excellent condition, FPSH, 1 owner from new, new MOT last week with no advisories, private sale from owner...

I've really no idea. The fact it's a single owner and fpsh car would be attractive to me.

At that price point, the work that has been done will really influence the price too. You could easily spend a few k on 'consumables' - clutch, brakes/pads, suspension components, tyres, radiators, air con condensers.

Another price point to consider is that an 09 2.9 Cayman (so 2nd gen) with 120k ish sold from a dealer for 9995.

For me, if all is absolutely perfect, it's a max 7k car.

However, it all depends on your view on high mileage Porsches....

The house looks very nice. If they've owned that since brand new and only ever used the supplying Porsche dealer for servicing then it could be a great car. History like that has to be worth something. I also see fully electric seats with lumbar. The only reason for the clutch being original which I can think of is not just gentle use but no gear changes so therefore mainly motorway driving.

Given viewing options it seems likely the car goes back and forth to Battersea from Somerset.

Could be a great buy, and although high milers arent my thing, if its has been well maintained by Porsche, it could be a great buy.

assuming you could get this for at least 9 or a bit less I think I would probably pay a bit more for less than half the mileage.

Thanks edo, that looks pretty good.

I'm trying not to spend too much on this car as I accidentally doubled the budget for the other car. The budget for this car is supposed to be £6.5k... If I start getting up to £9k then there are a few potentially ropey 987S s that might prove too tempting... hmmn.

I have previously bought a couple high mileage single owner cars and they have always been the ones that have been the least hassle. I tend to hang on to my cars for a while so resale value is less important. These cars have been Jap SUVs though so a little different so not sure if this holds quite so true for poverty pork.

I was thinking £7k for this one really provided it is as good as it is supposed to be, less anything that needs doing, particularly if the clutch is heavy... not sure the seller will agree though.

Thanks Cmoose, I'll have a good look through all of the history. I know that all of the springs have been replaced but the owner don't know if any of the other suspension components had been, so they probably have not...

I'm guessing probably about £2.5k for full suspension refresh + clutch and RMS.

The thing is, will a 60k car with a few owners be likely to be much better, but then if it had been done it would be worth a fair bit more...

This looks tempting

Not to barge in but that's a sloppy effort at selling a car. Sparse text, plus zero effort in the picture department.
Nothing puts me off more than the random car park snap plus the soapy-suds-just-washed driveway shot.

IMHO.
