Yep, wouldn't worry too much about that. It does look great the 2.5, I would have been all over it was I looking. Wish I had the sports seats but they sell for fortunes 2nd hand.

Is it common for lower mileage cars to have gaps in their history like this one:

http://www.adcarsalesuk.co.uk/used-cars/porsche-91...

It's just that it keeps waving at me as I drive past on my way home from work. I really can't justify it. At all. Fortunately, the gappy history, potential bills and tiptronic box is putting me off sufficiently. The wife really isn't helping matters with her 'ooh, that's lovely' type comments. It does look nice though. Damn my mid-life crisis. hehe

I had a V8 Vantage before the 996 and it was a great car but yes the paint/prep quality was shocking. Never heard of wiper issues but there were a few niggling issues. Fantastic looking and sounding car but the 996 is definitely more fun to drive!

Seems good for £4k.

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201706056154790?sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&model=BOXSTER&postcode=gu28xg&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&make=PORSCHE&radius=70&page=1

MOT History looks ok too.

EDIT - Can't get that link to work, so here's a direct one to their website, listed at £4,995.00 on there confused in which case, probably not that good.

Sure you're in the right thread, this was about poverty pork, not 20k cars !!!!!

Maybe poverty means something else in the upper echelons but the car that started this thread was sub 4k !!!!!

No, you're right, wrong thread for that, it was posted mainly as people had commented about low mileage cars with gaps in the history.

I'm certainly not in the upper echelons, see my garage... hehe

My 924 had a 20 odd year gap in the service history. It had only covered 6000 miles and had been dry stored. Never again will I buy something like that!

You forgot to mention the brakes that needed going through....

Lovely thing though, really nice and tight to drive. But then you don't want to drive it as the mileage is so low, so other than a run round the local lanes you can't really use it! I'll rustle up a photo tonight smile

Frustration: when the car feels AWESOME with its all new shocks, arms, links, bushes etc. But the car feels TERRIFYING with its wheels pointing all over the shop and you can't book in for an alignment till next week!

Got it something like with string, but nowhere near good enough to push, shocking bump steer coming from the back.

However, it a little spin did prove that the money looks to have been well spent, it feels ever so 'tight' and smooth now. And on standard springs, while its not as low as it was, I was worried it would look a bit goofy but its not too bad at all. Maybe some wheels spacers to push them out a bit in the future someday.

Gave a good clean and polish as it was filthy from living on the drive under a tree for 2 weeks. Camera flatter it, but still, not a bad looking motor for the price of a 6 year old mondeo!

What springs are you using snotrag?

Yep, so that's Koni FSD, stock springs with new top mounts, coffin arms, tuning forks, droplinks, trailing arms and arb bushes. About 30% of value of the car!

I was a bit worried it would look a bit goofy with stock springs but I think it's fine!

If you have or can get hold of a laser line you may find it a lot better to use than string.

It will project a vertical line so you can set it to just skim past the wheels and thus measure the geo.
