That Guards 2.7 986 is lovely. True bargain.

The 2.7 Cayman, I'd want less leggy. OTOH, is the 2.9 ably nicer? It seems less good value as Gen II 987s seem in general to be 60-80% more than Gen I examples, like for like.

A 50-60k mile 987 appeals about now...

I’ve just picked this up, cost less than the wheels for the GT2.

Bonus is that it has the M030 option and full leather, and being a 99 car has the cable throttle. Lovely thing to pedal around in without getting into the craziness of three digits on the speedo in 3rd gear!
Sounds a nice buy. How much? M030 is nice but if yours is wearing a lot of miles fresh dampers make a decent difference. Put new M030 on my first Box and just junked it on my 550 for Koni FSD/H&R.

I guess by now, anyone who would purchase m96/m97 from a dealer, would ask a signed copy of warranty letter, stating that they would cover the engine rebuild or simply rejection of the car (ideally in 6 months). laugh

£4.5k, 60000 miles with full history, new rads and condensors, new rear window in hood plus p zero tyres.

Seen cheaper cars but this one drove really nicely and had some of the “jobs” done. I wanted a dual row ims car, and this one ticked alot of the boxes. Represents great value in my opinion. You can just drive it fairly worry free, keep on top of the maintenance and just enjoy.

Hartech rebuild 987 2.7. Looks like an IMS failure and rebuild with replacement Shaft.

Is a 2.7 boxster manual really 500+ road tax if its after the 2006 cut of price hikes - I presumed the S would be but not the 2.7?

Had a brief look at this car today on way back to hotel from work

http://www.tomfergusoncarsales.co.uk/used/porsche/...

Looked very nice. Interior was immaculate and at that mileage, just run in.
Sills looked OK from outside, but need to try to look inside.
Didn't speak to any sales staff about details as not really in the market but if I was then worth another look.
Prices probably starting to rise?

They have been rising for quite a while on the Turbo and S2, so these must follow, but maybe to a lesser extent.

Three years ago, I almost bought an immaculate Turbo for the same money as that car - lower miles and better colour as well. That's probably gone up 4 times in value since then...

High mileage and slushmatic, but upgraded roof and sub £2.5k...

Allegedly been looked after by Performance Porsche in Brighouse.

That works, but only as something to run into the ground and not spend a penny on upkeep on.

Not if you factor in the cost of the Hartech engine rebuild for the 986!

Yup. I looked at a 987 that was high tax bracket.
I think after 2007 or so the stated emissions go down slightly. It's maybe why the early 987s are often so cheap relative to late 986s.

I didn't know that. I always assumed the S would be 535 per year but not the poor 2.7l.

I asked this guy and he said 535. Bidding currently on 4k. Got 200k miles under its belt and a few battle scars. Could be a good punt for someone maybe but a pet peev of mine is the high tax rate.

This is pretty close. The figures have changed slightly in the interim but the groupings are the same.
