Mini Bluebell Update:

Having split the rear window just before my wedding and honeymoon I'm now sat in the customer area of Car Hood Warehouse Ltd in Chessington getting a new hood with glass window fitted as an upgrade as it looks like I'll now be keeping her a little longer and decided the premium for the glass roof was worth it for the increased practicality and no further need for the 'Boxster chop' ...

Will update again once the job is complete, they reckon c 3 hrs from now smile

Picked up my poverty Pork yesterday and all seems well after the journey home.

Had a 2002 Boxster S about 4/5 years ago which I loved but sold as it wasn't being used. With the prices how they are it would be rude not to get another.

Spec:
2000 S in silver with black leather.
No options that I can see (unless climate control was)

Massive service history - bundle of receipts over 1" thick and recently had clutch, flywheel, IMS and RMS. All rads and condensors replaced in the last 18 months, new brakes all round (genuine from the invoice), wearing good Conti Sport Contact 2's. (This probably gies a clue as to which one I bought if anyone has been looking). Anything that needed doing was done mostly at Autofarm so comes with their extensive reports as well.

Slight wobble form the front between 65-75 - hoping this is wheel balancing/tyre but apart from that a most enjoyable drive home.

With the above having been done [high pitched slightly squeaky voice] what could possibly go wrong [and relax]?

CMoose you have email.

yeah, I like it, I know others dont but its morethan adequate plus heated and no more Boxster Chop required, also being able to see through it compared to the slightly milky 14 year old plastic screen it had before more than makes up for a little shrinkage !!!

Just had the car detailer that looks after all the senior managements cars in today, he spent 3 hours on Bluebell and has managed to reduce / minimise all the annoying little scratches and all the swiirl marks, the metallic flake really shines through now, will try and get some pics before she loses her shine .... have to say with the new roof and shiny paint she looks great.....

here she is, all polished and looking good, not bad for 14 year old paint and the detailer (Car Butler) was excellent, even took me round the known rust spots and said he couldn't see or feel any clues of any smile

If points are 2 x standard offences, ie SP30 / SP50 etc then they have an absolutely minimal loading with many insurers, if its 6 points in one offence then they load quite heavily ......

Update on my Boxster - I bought a rear splitter which gives the same look as the face lift rear splitter. Not fitted yet as I am looking for a front one too and should paint the lot together.

I also bought a bigger bore 75mm throttle body and will next buy a couple of silicone reducers and the 996 plenum t piece for some extra breathing. I'll probably stick it back on one of the 2 rollers I have already used for a comparison and if I can pick up a pair of stainless manifolds for <£100 then I'll bolt those up too, remap, and back on the rollers.
Blimey you will be the owner of the best invested in poverty pork on PH, good work.

Did you get that sports exhaust?

Agree completely, how on earth a (genuinely) good Boxster S can slip much below £5k is beyond me. If it is a good'un you are still very much buying a quality car with a Porsche badge on it.....not a merely a 10 yr old car IYSWIM.
I kind of agree, I think as has been said, good ones will find homes at decent prices and the dogs will change hands at a chunk less, its kind of the poor mans version os the 10k 996t market, yes they are there but truth is you'll need minimum 13k-14k for a 996 worth having, but all those cars at 10k are dragging the £14k ones down ....

At least we have less to lose .... and I'm finding my 1998 2.5 a blast that having retyred it and put a new roof on it, don't see me seling it anytimne soon unless a too good to be true 3.2 S appears to tempt me, and even then I may take my roof with me, lol ...

Resse, nice car ...

And my car too gets used for almost everything, couple of weeks ago i strapped a 32" TV to the passenger seat with the roof off to take to the tip, it was a big old CRT one too .. got some odd looks when i got to the dump, especially when i then opend the front boot and unloaded a load of black backs fullof grass cuttings ....

Toy or utility ??? thats part of the appeal and still ahoot to drive down a twisty B road, even my boggo 2.5 as it handles soooo nicely smile

I'm with you on that, and like your comments on the 'keeper' thread, I don't see me selling mine, I have such little money in it that unless soemone was giving a 3.2S away I don't see the premium in an incremental upgrade, was much the same with my Ducati 996, have had that 11 years now and will never sell, will just add to the stable smile

Found it for you. Bypass pipes though not decat. Autofarm can do the LN Engineering IMS for you. Might as well get a 3.7 conversion at the same time :-)
Cheers smile and good idea, but 2.5 to 3.7 is a long way a nd a big bill, probably more than I paid for the car ... lol

Looks like a good car, I'd call them and ask about the 00 to 08 history, may be that have only listed the most recent and relevant, lot of car for the money if it checks out, what's there would,t overly concern me if its earlier history is in order, let us know how you get on.
