I've just bought some poverty Pork…

Whilst I've not weeded out the market on the sports seats criteria both my Boxsters S and 550 came with the hardback sports seats option. It didn't seem particularly rare. They do an ok job at holding you in when pressing on but much more than 8/10ths on a regular basis then you are probably thinking about bucket seat options anyway. They are much better than 'sports seats' options you get on saloon, I'm thinking E90 BMW and AMG in particular.
Cheers guys. I think there's half a chance I might put actual buckets in whatever I buy anyway. Seen a nice black 2.5 not too far away that's got sports seats, and has led lights and 18" gt3 wheels. Removing these would get a good chunk of cash back. I wonder if sports seats are a good sign of possible M030 too.
I think you'll find the other way round more likely is M030 then probably has sports seats. Either way if you are buying a high mile example and are already talking buckets then you are of modding stock and if you have a keen eye on handling you will probably want to replace the ageing and tired dampers anyway.
Your right, now that I think about it. I reckon I can budget 7k, which even puts into early 3. 2 territory. However I think I've already decided I need to be spending 4-5k on the oldest, simplest 2.5 I can find and the rest on get of tyres, suspension bits, loud exhaust and lots of maintenance.

If your budget is 7k and you can do the work yourself over a period of time, I would say spend 5-6k on the best one you can find and the rest on whatever is your priority maintenance/mod wise. You don't have to do it all in the first year so by year 2 you will have more money in the bucket to keep going.£5k might get you a 3.2 - but whatever you buy, the maintenance / replacement costs are going to be similar. Lots of components with 80k miles / 10-15 year life I think.
I bought a good one (I think), 3 years ago, with plenty of receipts for work done, and have still spent a fair bit on maintenance. (m030 kit, suspension arms, expansion tank)
Cracking car & I still think they are the bargain buy of the Porsche range.

I'm still partial to a 3.2 but a 2.7 could do the job I guess (smaller usually means sweeter overall and we're only talking a couple of handfuls of Bhp / lb./ft.).
Main thing is just to get a good non-shagged example that has been sensibly maintained by a knowledgeable enthusiast. Seats / suspension I'll sort for myself!

Looking to sell my 99 Boxster 2.5 in the next month. It's done 118k miles and it's in pretty good nick. Would £4500 be too steep?
Depends on the spec, condition, history/preventative maintenance routine!snotrag said:
What colour and interior?
Lapis blue with a black/blue heated leather (non sports) interiorThis is it before I bought it. I've since resprayed the full front end and refurbished the wheels: I really need to take some better pictures of it as I'm a photographer and it looks much better than that!
