Smart top. It allows one touch roof operation, roof on the go at up to 30 mph. Quite handy actually.

Hopefully cost neutral as I can sell it on for the same sort of 2nd hand price if I ever sell the car. This unit is already 2nd 2nd hand.

I never thought I needed to reverse park and do the roof at the same time. It also times perfectly for the Boxster chop. Set it in motion, get out and chop, start engine and do up seat belt and as you select first the roof is done :-)

If you turn ignition but don't fire engine whilst doing roof, you nearly always do a throttle body reset.

I happened to have the engine cover off and it goes through the reset after circa 35 to 45 secs.

The Smarttop relays have their fans but are pricey if bought new. You can get some of this functionality for free if you simply bending pin 18 on the OEM relay.

You have to keep your finger on the button and ensure that the handbrake is on just enough to light the warning light but if you are happy with that, you can now raise and lower your top while in motion.

Don't try it when you are going too fast though, esp. not if into wind and the normal precations should apply if you have a flexi rear window and it's too cold.

Happy to say bought some poverty pork for the Mrs 40th Birthday.
It's a Y plate, 2.5 boxster, 40K, Full Porsche Service history - and other than a few stone chips is absolutly mint.

Mrs Y3K is loving it, constantly has the roof down and I've only managed to blag one drive in it myself and that was only to drop her of at the hotel on the night before we got married.

Only thing that I would like to do is replace the Head Unit for something that is more ipod friendly - any advice / suggestions much appreicated.

Think we may have found out why the air con wasn't working.....

Unbelievable the ammount of muck that came out, thats only a fraction of it on the floor! eek
Would have been a quite a straight foreward job if only one bumper screw hadn't rusted itself well and truely in, and appeared to be made from Kyrptonite. smash

Get yourself some of the Zunsport grilles to stop the sticks and leaves going in. Just get the side ones mind as the centre one doesn't fit.

Just had one of these fitted in mine after it being recommended on here.

Great value at the moment & much better than having nowhere to put iPhone.

Hmm loks interesting, how did you get on with it being fitted ? I've used Halfrauds along time ago and i wasn't too impressed with them. (though I admit that could be store specific)

Not too much they can get wrong just swapping out a head unit.

I am liking the look of that. Question. I have the dashboard speakers and the door speakers. The door speakers dont actually sound like they do much bar emitting lots of bass, is this all they do ? Or are mine knackered !!

Oh & I paid for fitting as was only £30 but it was really easy as the replacement literally just plugged in with same fitments & only extra thing needed was an aerial adapter.

When fitting slide out Heater controls from above as this gives you loads of space (only held in with top 2 Philips screws) & surround clips off.

I did mine last weekend - same situation, condenser failed in the same place too (on both side).

It's nice to have working air-con again smile

MOT time - passed with a couple of advisories.

Car required work on exhaust and suspension bushes - wife confirms £900 invoice waiting for me at home frown

I knew the suspension fix was going to be £500 in parts - I'll update later when I get home.

Car feeling like new.

Unfortunately "yes".

After last year's MOT we had an advisory 'small cracks in both front lower suspension bushes'.

The bushes cannot be replaced as they are an integral part of the arms.

Each arm is £229.51 (£459.02 + VAT in total).

I had a look at the old arms and the bushes were in very poor condition.

Couple of exhaust gaskets £2.24 + 6 x exhaust bolts £15.36 = 6 x exhaust nuts £23.04.

You need to check out Design911 or similar for lower prices!

Pair of control arms, wishbones and bushes is less than £300.
