^^^^^Wow, thanks cmoose, a very imformatry post and given me a starter for 10.

To be honest I didnt think my budget would stretch to a 2.7 but if it does all the better. I will probably be buying privately and I have a mate with a 2.5 I can take along with me. Think I will get my private plate on retention and advertise the TT as soom as the new V5 comes through.

This has just popped back up in my stuff and reminded me.

I've recently invested in some more poverty Pork. A little more pricey than most on this thread but for the car in question, let us just say I am a very happy man with the deal biggrin

Not had chance to collect as yet but will post pics and give more details in due course.

Reverse usual buying procedure. Quick look and then straight into the test drive. If nothing crops up remove ready cut piece of 2’x2’ fresh cardboard sheet from the boot of the car you travelled down in and place under the area of the RMS.

Spend your usual hour or so going through the paperwork and checking for crash repairs, etc. Once done remove piece of cardboard and inspect for oil stains.

This doesn't really work if it is raining though biggrin

I am going to look at a 2000 boxster s tomorrow with 88k miles. I will let you know how I get on. From doing a dvla vehicle check, the car hasn't been taxed since march. Would the car not being used cause problems?

Possibly, but it depends on where it has been etc. You need to ascertain the full story before you venture out really.

If it hasn't been stored properly then have a good look at the tyres and brakes. Was it off the road with problems or just stored as not used or some other reason?

I can't remember if I posted this pic but if I already have - sorry. This was taken as part of John ramp tons efforts to photograph all the Porsche models.

Anyone recommend some decent head light bulbs, something a little brighter/whiter than the normal ones?

cheers

Have a look on boxa.net. I have used Ring Xenonmax, supposedly +100% brighter. £13 from ebay. Standard 55W bulb otherwise. They made a noticeable difference on my car.

I've been using Osram Nightbreakers, they replaced some blue pieces of c**p a previous owner had fitted. Quite cheap on ebay and they seem to be OK.

This might offend some of you design afficionados but I have just added the clear rear lights having done the front some months back.

I also had an 'amberectomy' - this removes the amber lens in the headlight thus removing the usual hint of orange.

Good shout, i actually really like the ambers ...... my 2.5 runs really nicely on 17's too, great on less than smooth roads ...

I hope some people will disagree - I was hoping to get decent money for the clear lights smile

Good - they are Litronic units as well, so will help bring down the overall cost of the deal

excellent - the old rears come with the car, and s/h fronts shouldn't be too pricey

Will report back with pics when the deal is done
