Some months ago I created a discussion regarding what was the best to go for, 3.2 or 964. The replies I received were fantastic and helped no end, so thanks for everyones help.
I took this advice and put it to the test......I even went a drove a 996 Carrera 4S which was a great drive if not a little bland and not a great deal different to my 4 year old daily drive.
I have since purchased a Guards red 964 Carrera 4, cream leather and a nice history and will be setting about adding my subtle stamp on it........so if anyone has an RS/RS style steering wheel or a lowering kit for this, by all means contact me!
Thanks all once again for the invaluable advice, and look forward to driving it to some meets, shows, etc. redface)

I have just changed the suspension on my C2. If you want the Eibach lowering springs I took off drop me a line.

Not sure if I've done that right guys, but hopefully you can see the blank canvas.....watch this space.

Would the springs fit the C4 too as I know there are some differences? If so, sounds good, let me now how much they drop it as I do like a bit of stance and what you want for them?

OP I think the drop is 30-40mm, they fit both C2 and C4 models I believe. I dont want anything for them tbh, rears come with standard dampers which are less than a year old.

Looks nice!
Great cars, especially once you get them how you like'em.

I'm having one inspected next week which I'm sure will be very good. Never had a 4 though but I'm sure I'll like it.

Enjoy! smile

Thanks Marky. I've driven both and can't tell alot of difference tbh. C2 favoured for tracks etc and said to be a little nimbler, but mines just for fun and hobbie so 4 wheel drive was fine. I spoke to a great guy at specialist near me who also confirmed he was unaware of any 4x4 issues. My insurance.......£155 fully comp, limited 3k miles, garaged, AND A FREE MEERKAT!!!!! ;o)

Haha. Got to bag a meerkat when you can. My girlfriends busy waiting for hers at the minute.

Yeah, I must admit my first choice was a C2 as mine will be doing the odd trackday but at my budget, £15k ish, I'm buying on condition and pampering by previous owners, rather than being hellbent on a c2.

I'm sure I'll like it. Good result on your suspension. This one I'm buying has Ruf suspension so I'm lucky in that respect.

You probably already look on them but if not 911uk and rennlist are great sites for 964s. Some great cars on there. smile

Trust me, when on the search I checked everyone flippin' site Google would throw up. Although in Germany I loved some of the cars on AP-cardesign.de are exactly the look I'm after.

Should the oportunity arise I may track it once in a while, but more of an ownership/look/drive it thang for me I guess.

Spoke to Ras today, so another big thanks to him, and that should start me off on the right track, excuse the pun. Also, the wife now has no excuses as to what to buy for Christmas, Birthday, VALENTINES DAY(Not far away my sweet) and the like.

As soon as the subtle mods arrive I'll post the pics. Love to see anyone elses projects.

Absolutly agree. Keep the mirrors and ambers.

Madmax, where in the County are you? I was ready for a look at the C4 you have bought. Looks alas I was a little to late. ..... Hope you enjoy her.

Agreed on both counts. Ambers are particularly critical!

I'd go for the cups if that's what you prefer op. I agree to a certain extent about the Amber's looking better but only depending on car colour. On my red Turbo I have clears and think they look best but, the grey C4 I'm hoping to get has clears and I'll be fitting Amber's.

As for the mirrors, flags look soooo naff. The car is lovely and curvy then you look at the big square mirrors. The cups improve the whole look of the car even though some people would struggle to realise it was the mirrors making the difference. It's not like you have to butcher anything to get them on either. just keep the standard parts boxed up if you're bothered about originality.

The flags were carried over from the 3.2 due to lack of development budget for the 964, however the 964 Turbo arrived in 91 with the cup mirrors and later Carreras got them too, so it's not like bodging on some mirrors off a later car or from Halfords.

I would never keep my car in a state that was my second choice just because the next owner (if I were ever to sell)might be a purist. That's their lookout. smile

Liking the OEM+ of your 964, I've seen the wheels I'm going with, but always loved the cups since my VW days. Regarding mirrors......I'm afraid I'm a teardrop lover and I'm going with the clears all round and intakes at the front. Marky, if you want to swap my ambers for the grey C4 then drop me a line!
Still on the look out for a steering wheel. I'll keep the original but something nice to grip in those corners is a must.
