So, the new name for the Cajun is the Porsche Macan.

http://www.porsche.com/uk/aboutporsche/pressreleas...

I'm glad they didn't go with Cajun, but I'm not sure I like Macan any better tbh.

Edited to fix link after the page was taken down from the Porsche Origin site.

Nice looking, but awful name - waaaaay too many jokes are coming Porsche's way on that one.

What is it? A Q5 with a Porsche badge?

I wouldn't be surprised if it shares a lot of the underpinnings. It'll essentially be a smaller Cayenne.

My guess would be that they will possibly give it a slightly sportier edge and focus less on off road capabilities.

Q3 with a Porsche badge, not Q5. It is quite small - which is good.

What are those wheels? 27" maybe? I wouldnt be seen dead in it frankly.

And the styling is way too conservative. A Cayenne 20% smaller with a KIA style dent on the door.

Oh dear.

I'd love to have been in the room when the 'panel' came up with the name...

"What about the Porsche Sutcliffe?"
"Nah, too 1980's - what about the Porsche Huntley?"
"Nah, no Man U fans will buy that - we need something that people have an emotional connection with - perhaps the Porsche Hindley Turbo?"
"I've got it - the Porsche Macan S - it'll disappear from our showrooms like lightning..."

Plenty of articles about it being Q5 based, and plenty of rumours about Q5 mules which are hiding Porsche hardware...

I disagree. I think everyone just has to shift their frame of reference. Porsche isnt the same porsche who made the 964rs and the 959, those days are long gone.

They make upmarket but mainstream transport, of all shapes and sizes that everyone can drive, all with an emphasis on performance and all at the top of their game in their respective genres. Mostly highly enjoyable transport as well. Long may it continue.

For a special weekend car get a Ferrari, a caterham or a Zonda etc..
