The huge profit Porsche will get from the Macan will be the reason they're doing it. They're in it for the money, pure and simple.
isn't that the reason to be in business??
Absolutely. It's not me that's struggling with the concept.

I've just found a lease company doing the diesel S for £540 pm / 24 months.
Can't have it until April 2015 though...

That will be a basic car with no options. I thought it might have been cheaper though...

I had a good look around one on Wednesday. Lovely to sit in, but smaller than I had expected. I tend to have the drivers seat almost all the way back, and once comfortable there was no room in the back for the kids to sit comfortably. Sadly therefore its off the list, but a lovely, car
Did you have someone sit in the back while you were sitting in the front or had the ignition on?
If it had the sports seats if you turn ignition off the seat will move back quite a lot to allow
easier access, I thought the same initially but when got back in and turned ignition on seat moved back to previous
Position and rear room was considerably more. Appreciate peoples prefered seating position does vary though, I'm 6' .

Does anyone know if the Macan rear seats are adjustable for fore and aft movement like the Cayennes?

Cheers.

Pretty sure not. Quite tight if the person in front is 6 foot or more.

Thanks. No sign of a lever on the side so I presume not. Shame as it was a handy feature on the Cayenne...really helpful as you could move seats back for more passenger space or forward if carrying lots of luggage. Macan has missed a trick there!

I'm only 6 ft, but always have the seat far back. At the limit there was about 6 inches, possibly less behind me. I think most 6 footers with a more normal seating preference would probably be OK, but there certainly isn't as much room in the back as I might have hoped.

I wasn't sure about the looks when I read the initial magazine reviews but after seeing an example this weekend, it was a smart motor.

Do not expect the design to be anything bold or exciting though.

Base model now on the configurator as a special order with a price of

Base price: £ 39,307.00
Price for equipment: £ 969.00
Total Price:*
£ 40,276

Some options are slightly different too, with cruise being standard on the base model, and the wheels being a little more expensive.

I was about to comment on the price for what is a Golf-sized 4 door family car with a 2litre diesel engine, but then I checked on the price of a Land Rover Victoria and the Porsche badge suddenly looks like good value.

Isn't the base model Macan a 4 cylinder petrol? Hence the relatively high emissions and poor economy.

My bad, its the petrol Gti engine. No wonder it's special order only.

It's a good point he makes, it's a damn petrol! yikes

I thought they were going to do a 2.0 litre Diesel. Nevermind.

I hope they don't do what LR did and supply the 4 pot petrol to people who really wanted a Diesel just because demand is higher than supply.

There will be a 4 pot Diesel, the one currently in the Audi Q5 and VW Tourgan and probably a Skoda too.

Well if they have access to the ubiquitous 2.0 litre unit, you'd hope they choose the 190hp version that you get in the A6 Ultra.

Got a chance to sit in a Macan at Cambridge OPC today. Verdict on much discussed rear seat room is yes it's a bit tight. I'm 6'2" and sitting behind myself my knees were up against front seat back. This would be not good on a long run but just about ok on short trips. Rear door opening seemed more restrictive than ideal too.
Getting in a Cayenne felt instantly more comfortable, more at home to me as a older Cayenne owner with around 3" knee to seat clearance.
So.
Macan fine if you travel mostly 2 up and fine for 2 children in the back up until teenage age I'd guess and 2 adults for short trips. The boot seemed deeper (longer) than I expected and I'd have thought 2-3" of that length could have been better used by the rear cabin area. It's a great looking vehicle in the flesh.

Cayenne good for all circumstances but they are a wide vehicle to hustle along country lanes or congested cities which is where the Macan would have an advantage as it's a nippier size. Interior and fittings top quality as expected.

The showroom was mega busy, good to see so much interest in the brand.
