We have our second on order. Was quoted 15 months also for that one.
I expect a lot of dealers are filling order books to keep business flowing into 2016 now.
I don't mind when it comes really, in fact summer 2015 would be good - but I suspect it will be March 2016.
Another Diesel SLR? The head says Diesel but the heart says petrol. It's for Mrs B, she does about 17k miles pa

We tried both the diesel and the petrol - Mrs preferred the petrol woohoo so we put in LOI for the Macan GTS - 3rd in the queue.

Depends on mileage - but when I worked it out, the additional cost of running the petrol version was about £500-£1000/yr, so not a big deal really.

For us, who will do approx. 10-12K miles per year, there is really not much in it... For me the higher revving petrol engine sounds epic through the PSE that we have fitted and its just bags of fun to drive!

17k p.a but i can see that an extra £800 in fuel matters not. I was also wondering about depreciation but given the demand i cant see any difference either

Agree, I don't think it makes much difference. Enough enthusiasts around to treat them like posh, jacked up, hot hatches, which they pretty much are. The petrol, is so much nicer to drive, and it's quite a lot quicker too, it's almost rude not to!

Yes another diesel. She tried the turbo at Silverstone and did not think it was worth the extra £15k, I was busy in a GT2 so cant comment. Its up to her really - she only does 3000-4000 miles a year - so it does not really make any difference either way. I think the diesel will be worth £2-£3k more come PX time though. (over Macan S)

Given her driving style I think 250bhp is already more than enough to get her into trouble! biggrin

How's everyone getting on with their Macans. I got one - thinking the wife would like it, which she does - but I think it's brilliant. It's only the diesel but it's just so 'right'. It drives brilliantly and even with the huge wheels, rides really well. But it the way you can chuck it around that really surprised me. It's incredible. It's 95% sports car, 5% SUV.

So now I know what it is I'm thinking of getting either the turbo or the normal petrol. Options?

I don't fully get on with ours. I don't dislike it - but I would not have one as my daily driver.
I find the driving position poor and uncomfortable, visibility for parking and reversing also very poor.
To me its just a car, which is a shame as its the first Porsche I have owned which has not felt that special cut above.
Its quiet enough though, rides ok and at times seems to do about 2000mpg!

On the flip side the wife raves about it.

Just turned in my MACAN Diesel S, disappointed in it, after reading all the reviews expected great things but it didnt deliver.... 4 momths and just over 3k miles both longer distance and local driving... Turbo lag and seat comfort made driving experience not as refined as expected. Sold it to local OPC for few hundred over list as I think the days of large premiums are passing, had it advertised on PH and Autotrader and only calls were from dealers and private buyers looking at several thousand below list. Going back to real Porsche again so off looking at 911's

Still a very rare car - I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road.

+1 Great car dynamically but odd image (if that bothers you). Bit X3/Freelanderish for my wife - well that is her opinion anyway.

I borrowed a turbo for a few weeks when my car was in for warranty work. Stonking quick and brilliant handling but just didn't feel like a £70k+ car. I wouldn't swap my Cayenne for one. I felt a bit girlie driving it.

Great car, owned for 6 months and sold it. Not looked back or missed it once even though I loved it when I owned it.

It's a small car. not a family car IMHO. . 70k is a lot of coin indeed and there is something about the looks. Cayenne a better proposition.

I find that these cars are quite spec sensitive to my eyes. They can look good in Turbo guise with the right wheels and a subdued colour, with air suspension set to the lower setting to fill the wheel arches.

However every Macan I see around here shouts "I stetched for the cheapest poverty spec Porsche but should have bought an Audi instead" — cars with 18" wheels, steel suspension in bright colours that contrast with that cheap looking plastic sideblade just don't look "right" to me. I'd even go as far as saying that I'd prefer an Audi RS Q3 over that.

I've had my Petrol S for 8 months and done 8K miles in it. I think it's the best SUV out there in terms of performance and dynamic ability but as you can see it also seems to be a bit of a marmite car. I didn't want a diesel because it didn't give me the performance I wanted and overall I'm very happy with the experience I've had so far.
