Put my name down for a Macan today, no idea when it's coming and am deffo going to go for the 'Debadge' option to save on the sniggers. Then the Mrs suggests she wants a suitable personal 'plate to go with it... Supposedly will be running a wider track and stiffer chassis then the Q5 and with a Porsche interior should be a sensible bet

Porsche have ruined their brand image and everything the Porsche name represented has gone out the window.
Shameful!

But their excuse is that it helps to fund all the nice sports cars we buy (which is something Aston Martin could learn from and that Maserati are learning from by making the KaaaaBannng SUV) The fact that the Macan will no doubt be a hoot to drive is an added bonus

These will sell like hot-cakes, huge waiting list I'm sure and depreciation free motoring for a year or so. Can't really see how Porsche can go wrong with this.

My thoughts exactly. Get in early and at least we'll have the option to decide yes or no once the official photographs and technical info comes out. I expect it will be the new thing for the mumsies to be seen in taking over from the Evoque (judging by the huge number of those i'm now seeing out on the roads)

Strange, liked the Evoke in the pix but in the flesh? Leaves me cold. I think it will age quickly.

Hi
As per April 2012 edition of a Porsche Specialist Mag :-
It is expected to be based on the AUDI Q5 but will be available only in 3 door form with a much raised ride height.Apparently styling is clearly influenced by the 911 (!!!!!)
It is highly unlikely that the Macan will get a bespoke Porsche engine insteade it will probably use Porsche tweaked Audi units incl. 4 cylinder and six cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It will however get a bespoke interior.
The Mecan will be Porsches's fifth model line and should take the fight directly to RR Evoque.
On the following page is an interview with Porsche CEO Matthias Muller who confirms the Macan will now put to bed any thoughts of developing a "Baby Boxter".
So there you go

I quite like the concept scribble picture, although i don't know why it has to have 30" wheels, they make it look silly.
It's better than the Panamera and the Cayenne though

Fact of the day, fact fans. Porsche said that when they announced it. Porsche said: Porsche today confirms the name for its forthcoming new sports car in the SUV segment is Macan. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics – core characteristics of this new all-terrain car.

I go to all that trouble of finding a translator, and Porsche had already announced it? Bah.

Just thought I would update this thread with a little more info: Matthias Müller confirmed that the tail lights seen in Paris on the Sport Turismo will be on the Macan at launch. Tech specs have not been 100% confirmed but its now pretty much 99.99% going to be: Engines 2 x 2.0L units, a petrol (225 ish bhp) and a diesel (190 ish bhp) 2 x V6 units, both petrol, one NA and one Turbo with 290/370bhp. There are expected to be other engines / hybrid options after launch with upto 11 variants possible! Drive train 7 speed manual / PDK optional Audi based 4x4 system Interior Based on the current "style" interior.
