One comment I will throw into this having been at the OPC Colchester event, regarding space, I am 6 foot 6 and sat comfortably behind a gentleman who was about 6 foot tall. With the sunroof, headroom was a bit tight, and I didnt have anyone next to me, but on a height/legroom basis, I was very impressed...

Boot is a bit small though, dogs wouldnt be very comfortable in there I dont think!

Yeah the wife was not happy with the fact the cars on the launch night had the black pack.

black pack was awefull, the cars were covered in finger prints and the cars not dog friendly in any way.

I would still buy a Audi Estate over a SUV, as I said it does nothing well, just a tall car !!

Yes because this Audi estate you speak of will drive better than this compromised tall car. I agree that if Porsche committed to an estate it would be better still than a macan but between this and the ordinary estates?

I do think most people like a big car esp an estate if they own a a dog. the Macan is a yummy mummies school run tall car, nothing more imo.

S6 Avant please just seems the best option if you have kids and a dog and want some poke under your foot or own bikes.
like wise better to take bikes out with you, I do miss not being able to take my MB to places or on holiday in the UK.

SUV is a stupid market, female owned seen at M&S car parks.

Just has a long drive in the hills above Monaco and I must say I am hugely impressed with the car. The ride quality, road holding and cabin quietness are like nothing else in it's class or bigger. The diesel isn't super quick in acceleration but once you are going you never need to back off.

Very impressive!!!

Interesting reading peoples perspectives. Mine is that I see no point in estate cars these days, when they (Audi Avants, Jag Sportbrakes) cost as much and are just 'cars', where as the SUV has a commanding driving position and AWD and as much luxury. For me the Macan is perfect a proper 'Sports' Utility vehicle for a single car household giving benefits of both worlds.

My only bug bear is the residual value is determined by the 'base' model price, these cars need about £10k of extras on top of the £43k starting price, but you get none of the benefit. I would like Porsche to include the 'normal' options on a £50k car (leather, cruise, heated seats, park sensors etc.) on UK models and raise the entry price to include these as standard.

Anyway, will go for a drive in one and see if I continue with my purchase or not....

You can see areas where cost savings have been made unfortunately versus Q5.

Maybe its just because everyone is waiting to drive one and needs to talk about something in the meantime but all this 'why would you buy one as opposed to an estate'...'Audi Q3/5' etc etc
if you have 5 kids and 3 dogs of course you arent going to buy one and if it isnt a whole lot better
than any similar type/size Audi I am going to be very disappointed.

Reason I am planing to buy one is because after 4 years with an X5 I can now live with something
a bit smaller which I am very much hoping and expecting will be an awful lot more fun to drive the whole time, thats what I mean by 'better' than any Audi not whether one bit of trim might be better on an Audi(hope Porsche spent the money elsewhere) but is still practical enough.

Should know in about 10 days if thats correct.

It is very very quite and smooth. It doesn't need to be a sports car in Diesel form for me but it gets up to speed quick enough for a everyday car IMO.

The partial leather gives you a leather dash top but not doors etc but this looked good to me.

I didn't hear one rattle or feel anything in the car that wasn't good quality.

I loved it and the size for what I need is perfect.

I was a massive doubter of this car and said so, but the reviews are pretty damn unequivocal. It looks as though Porsche got it right (as always).

It isnt an estate, so it isnt an estate and cannot be blamed for that, MrD.

It is self-evidently not a school run car in any fair sense, although it will obviously be used for that. It is a highly capable SUV that will handle in a way that reminds you just enough of "proper" Porsches to put a smile on your face when karting the kids around. Job done if it manages that.

I also think that it is pretty cheap at 50k when you think that a crapbox SUV costs about 25k. I dont think it can get to a sensible spec below 50k, though - I agree with those comments.

I wish it had a manual for the petrol version.

Please, people, dont buy the damn diesel and poison the air for the sake of a few quid a week in fuel costs. It will also be noticeably slower than the petrol and barely Porschey.smile

Porsche simply aren't supplying enough petrol Macans to the UK, as this car is not targeting the Sports car crowd and so the demand is for the oil burner. I wanted a petrol but it was June for a diesel or April 2015 for the petrol. Turbo even harder to source...

All the petrol Macans have been allocated to the U.S. no diesel available there.
