Are the delivery times getting any shorter on the Macan?
No. Not before end 2015 is the ballpark. Buy one now as 2nd owner and enjoy rock solid residuals for 18-24mths. That's my gamble.
So if you ordered today when would delivery be?

When I was in Reading earlier in the week they are quoting 15-18months, so I rate, without cancellations etc, you'd be looking at early 2016

Thinking similar. We have the Diesel and it's sublime but considering popping in a deposit for a Turbo.

I was quoted 18 months with the possibility of that actually being 13 months. eek

Sadly, my current lease ends in 14 months so I can't take the risk of being carless for 4 months. A real shame becuase the Macan was the first car in ages that I've sat in, felt comfortable and decided it was right for me.

Tell me the SQ5 is just as good...
I have the SQ5 and I fancied changing it for the Macan in 18 months time. So in April I booked a test drive and I took out a Diesel S, from the driving seat it was nice, a little more refined than the Audi and quite smooth. However from the passenger opinion not so good, my wife and daughter said the rear space was cramped and the trim finish was no where near as good as the SQ, the door handle trim was hard plastic compared to leather in the Audi. When we stopped I sat in the back and I have to agree the that Audi is better (IMO) if you carry 3 or 4 people on a regular basis.
Just after that I drove the SQ from Yorkshire to Bristol and back, it went fantastic and returned over 40mpg. I will be keeping the SQ for a while and then maybe stretch to a Cayenne when I decide to replace it.
Completely disagree. We've had a couple of q5 and a Cayenne before getting into a Macan. Have tried the SQ5, but the Macan is a totally different animal in terms of ride, handling and refinement. To drive it feels more like a S3 when you press on, it is simply unbelievable how it drives! When settling back into a cruise it is very hushed and refined. I feel the cabin is at least a class above the SQ5 in terms of materials, fit and finish. You can have leather wherever you want with a Macan you know?

SQ5 is quick, but the Macan is sublime.
"You can have leather wherever you want with a Macan you know?"
You can probably have it lined with the finest grade of bulls testicle skin if you want to be ripped off a little more! In my opinion the standard trim of the SQ5 is better.

Ok, we will just have to disagree but I'm sure most will notice a significant difference between the two cabins. What cannot be up for debate is the dynamic experience. God alone know how Porsche have done it but the Macan is simply sublime and shows what can be done.

And I actually drove it yesterday. I remember being so very impressed with the Cayenne an it's relative delicacy on the road and car like manners. The Macan is cayenne plus. Taughter, more agile, faster, fresher. Quite a machine. And then I checked the stats. 0-62 in 6.1 seconds with sport chrono. Verging on the ridiculous.

Just covered 4000 miles in ours over the last month, and yesterday 800 miles in just over 13 hours, did the same journey in a Cayenne last year, the Macan is more comfortable, quieter and a nicer place to be if you don't need the space of Cayenne of course, we arrived home pretty fresh considering the distance and time travelled, amazing really. As mentioned in this thread it is Cayenne Plus which is what I thought on my first drive, it is everything my Cayenee wasn't and in a good way.

Performance and handling wise it's sublime it defies both it's size and weight, there is no getting away that it's a near 2 tonne SUV of course. That said it's brutally fast and the handling is crisp, feels like it stays pretty flat in the corners, a real joy on the alpine roads swopping corners and switchbacks, in Sport Plus, Air Suspension Low and PASM in Chassis Sport Plus you then totally forget it's an SUV and get immersed in the driving experience, the Turbo also does have a lovely engine and exhaust tone.

I didn't check but I had about 350km worth of range at the bottom and at the top of what was around 18km of road the range was 186km laugh worth every drop.

I dont really follow you. The early gen 2 cayenne turbos have lost most of their money. A 50/60k example will not be 20k anytime soon ! Hell the old gen1 cayenne turbos can still fetch up to 30k.

So i dont see the early gen2's depreciating that much year on year whereas once supply catches up, there will be hundreds of macans in the classifieds for 25-40k. On a macan turbo, unless you get out of it fairly shortly you are going to lose say 30k minimum IMO. A 2011 cayenne turbo for say 55k you womt lose nearly as much because its a £100,000 car floated by hundreds of lower spec cayennes. It will be long long time before they are 20k used. A lomg time after a 60-70k macan has lost half its value.

All IMO.

Has anyone given up their 911 to go to the Macan?
I've got a MY2006 997S manual that I bought new; 77k miles and in daily use, with a full OPC service history. £100k for another new one is too much for me, and I'm considering trading mine for a Macan S diesel. I know some of you will think that this is heretical, but my kids are getting bigger, and the extra space would come in handy. I had a go in the petrol S yesterday and it was excellent, but no 911...
Keeping mine goping indefinitely is an option but I guess that it will become increasingly expensive and uncertain in the next couple of years.
Anyone else in a similar position?

A £60k CayenneT will be worth £50k to the trade the minute you buy it!

As I said Good luck with that! wink

LOL, and and you do your bks to the tune of £13k of vat the moment you buy a macan T. smile

A 60k cayenne bought privately is worth 60k privately the very next minute, the next day, the next month. If you buy trade and sell to the trade then you get stuffed whatever you buy, even if its a penny chew.

Anyway, thread bookmarked. We'll see how much more a 2011 cayenne T has lost in 3 years time compared to a brand new Macan T.

It may come as a surpise but Macan is not a La ferrari. Its a mass prouduced wagon and in 36 months time you wont be able to give them away. We'll see. wink

rofl 18 month waiting list and your going to lose £13k on a new Macan I would bet you could drive one for a year and not lose anywhere near that

Exactly - this "lose the VAT as soon as you drive off the forecourt is rubbish!"

86,000 Cayenne's made a year at the mo, 55,000 Macans, of which 3600 are making it to UK. I can't see anyone losing their shirt on a Macan T anytime some. The Cayenne even with the new frock is old school now and 'expensive'.

The Cayenne T will be 6 years old by then and the Macan will have had maybe 1 service and a set of boots, how much will have been spent keeping the Cayenne going?
This has to be factored in when doing your sums! smile
