Can anyone recommend good dealers for 2nd hand 996's. I looked at 911virgin but that seems to be mostly older classics.

Thanks

I think Camtune and Paragon have a few though I have dealt with neither company- look at the ads in 911 & Porsche World

Try Paul Stephens Specialist Cars near Cambridge. I've had two off him now and he knocks the likes of 911 Virgins/PortiaCraft/Paragon into a cocked hat; not some jumped up tosser unconvincingly big-boying it about how much more of an expert on 911s than you he is, but a guy who knows his Porsches because he's spent his life working on them and racing them and who genuinely likes sharing his passion with like minded types.

...mind you, PS is not averse to kicking one in the balls when bidding on a car (so I'm told - I've never dealt with him - his cars have always been too expensively priced in the first place for me to bother to drve the ten miles or so to his place to take a look).

...so it's nice to see that he does bear some of the traits of a professional...

One can only speak as one finds; I traded in a car I'd had from him a couple of years earlier and he gave me fractionally more than I was getting offered by private buyers

Have you dealt with Henry? He is a straight forward no-nonsense kind of chap Joel at RSJ also steers well clear of the BS.

To be fair to Henry as well, 911virgin also have their fair share of modern Porsches - not just the older classics.

Never dealt with Paul Stephens so can't comment on him. But like his stock and have a good browse of his website when looking.

Check out Autobahn in Coventry.

I have had nothing but good experiences there especially the after sales service side of things, which is superb.

Ask for Nim Saranna and tell him I sent you.

For the record, I have no vested interest etc.

Kind Regards,

Ive had the pleasure (!) of dealing with Henry on a few occasions, in the old days before he was really well off, he would travel north of watford, in those days when he was young and hungry (not in the food sense!!) Your right hes straight forward enough to deal with.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Looks like 63-65k is the mark for "51" reg 996TT's. Although it seems you pay a firly hefty premium on top of this for a low miler (<15k). "02" are about 70K but none seem to have the X50 pack. Doesn't seem to be that common?

Off to see a few more this weekend. Tom Hartley has a couple - anyone familiar with the natural leather option? Hopefully it looks better in the flesh than on his site.........

RSJ Sportscars seem to have a few 996's kicking about, Joel's a nice chap who won't feed you too much bull, plus they have a website for discrete drooling whilst having to attend work...

Be warned-Hartley really really messed me about..I would be on my guard with him. I did a deal on a sliver SLK 320 on his website and organised to pick the car up at the weekend. Called the next day to get reg details but no one would take my calls or return them. Turns out they sold it to some trade chum in the interim! Was tempted to sue but could not be bothered in the end...easier to learn a lesson and steer clear of such rogues...just dont buy into all that my son is a millionaire at 12 and I sell cars to important people-he sells cars to silly rich people who are willing to pay premiums because they feel inadequate and need to have the latest new model

Interesting comment about Tom Hartley. I phoned them up about 3 years ago regards a car for my Mum, with her Merc going in as a p/ex.....salesman never returned the calls or anything.

Got the same treatment from Bramshaws and Romans also.

Quite poor really.

MOD.

Mmmm... thought we weren't supposed to name and shame, but the sellers mentioned in the last two posts aren't on my list of people I'd buy a car from either! Nothing hugely serious just a lack of common decency. Got me to drive a long way to see a car and then messed me around and were generally arrogant/rude. Just put it all down to experience!!
