I have to say they do look good and VERY Gen2 like. But be aware some owners report misting and dash warning lights.
I've had mine for 3 months now. No dash lights at all. No misting at all. Great units and good value.

LI am retired but happily do a bit of work to keep my Turbo , plus it's starting to appreciate so I am thinking of my family when I shuffle off. Mind you a small digger could make a hole big enough for us both biggrin

ps: your bloody garage is better than my house biggrin

I've had mine for nearly four years, no dash lights or misting either.

Yes I heard the early dectanes threw up some dash lights but the later ones were good and I never got any problems. I bought the side repeaters that they do too... Kept all the originals though for when I (stupidly) sold it.

There is a nice cobalt gen1 at prestige cars in Kent I think 06 25k miler.

Is it my imagination or have 977 Turbo prices stopped their decline?

I think you are right mate but I guess like a lot of things good ones are becoming harder to get hold of.

Moving ever so slightly up, manual with reasonable mileage and good service history are the ones to look for. Having seen mine drop 56K from my purchase I now am ready to bask in appreciation zone, unfortunately it won't get back the 56K in my lifetime biggrin

So just to clear it up for me

Tiptronic is a softish auto box with paddles to swap cogs with

PDK is a harder core dual clutch gear change with paddles

and Manual is for purists smile

Noticed too, must be the increases of the 996tt pushing prices up.

I wouldn't say the tip is soft. Its very refined and suits the turbo perfectly IMO. The manuals a peach. PDK very impressive the way it delivers full boost power all the way through the gears with no let up. You can't do that in manual or tip i.e. full boost through the gears

The Tip' box does keep full boost when in Sport mode, you can also do full boost changes in a manual car but the clutch won't last long, (just ask a car mag' road tester!).

Not seamlessly through the gears as one rush of full boost power neither the tip or manual in my experience. As they change gear boost drops of for a milisecond as far as I'm aware. Even if you keep you foot planted through the gears on the accelerator you will not get full boost through the gears like you do in a PDK car. Driven all three on road and track and absolutely hammered them using brake boosting everything at Silverstone and the tip and manual cannot match what the PDK do imo. Having said that the novelty of what PDK can do especially with launches does wear off after 15 mins and you wonder when in reality will you ever use this feature lol

Thanks , I always had the idea that the tip was a soft version gear change , but PDK is a proper dual clutch affair ?

You're correct but the tip is by no means a soft option. It really suits the car well and I can understand why so many punters have gone for tips.

Yes but tip has steering wheel buttons not paddles
