I am going to be controversial and vote 996 GT2. I missed the boat on these as prices have risen by as much as 50% when compared to 3 years ago. A 996 T manual never fails to put a smile upon my face though.

This is one of the reason why i too went for the Gen 1 apposed to Gen 2
Metzger engine is by far the best engine to date!
How can you tell a gen1 from a gen 2 , or is it obvious ?

wheel design is most obvious sign, the usual bumper/rear light tweaks are not obvious unless side by side

inside slightly different dash trim and steering wheel, and if auto you would see a PDK shifter rather than a tip box

You wouldn't see a PDK shifter if it's a manual gen 2!

Easiest way to spot, Gen1 has 996 style rear lights, Gen2 are a different shape and LED.

On the subject of rear LEDs - I bought some Dectane units for my 997.1T. Easy plug and play units that are excellent value for money and make a massive difference to modernise the appearance of Gen1 cars.

I just need to find a set of Gen2 alloys now!

I have to say they do look good and VERY Gen2 like. But be aware some owners report misting and dash warning lights.

They didn't need to make an S version of the 997.1 turbo. According to a recent article in total 911 its the best turbo ever made!

A bit ugly and a bit stunning.....but with Carbon brakes and the PCM3 interior what more could I want ?
(But I will be retiring next April 2016 and it will have to go...Pensions and Porsches are not really compatible)

Stunning looking car. Can't say I saw any in that colour when I was looking but I prefer it to the "standard" colours.

LI am retired but happily do a bit of work to keep my Turbo , plus it's starting to appreciate so I am thinking of my family when I shuffle off. Mind you a small digger could make a hole big enough for us both biggrin

I've had mine for 3 months now. No dash lights at all. No misting at all. Great units and good value.
