Moogs right on the steering wheel - I forgot that is a must in my opinion. As for his Greys a boring colour statement - I feel it's a colour that exudes class lol

Options are a personal thing depending on what you want out of the car, so this is merely my opinion

TPM - wouldn't bother, just check the pressures yourself
DAB radio - reception issues? Apart from station choice, what is the benefit over standard radio in a car?
Telephone module - I have it on mine and I wonder why. Seems to be only of use if you intend to put a SIM card into the PCM module itself (as opposed to Bluetooth connection to the phone)
Carrera S wheels - I like these, but I wonder if you will miss not having PASM on 20" rims

in addition:

Sports Exhaust - really do consider this, changes the exhaust note a lot and is one option I wouldn't skip if I were ordering again
Manual transmission - unless you really want PDK, then save and get a manual. The gearbox is lovely and really suits the car
"Proper" colour - I find grey a bit depressing on a sports car
Ah ok, so can connect via bluetooth without the need of the phone module?

DAB fair point - to be honest mostly listen to music via the ipod or a bit of football on five live so that can go

Prefer to drive an auto - so PDK staying.

Colour - Other colours I am toying with are red, then with black wheels, silver or blue. Need to see the colours in the flesh.

Having read through this thread, I am beginning to think about the sports exhaust.

Thanks for the input

Well you could have the Bluetooth prep instead which is around £100 cheaper. That's bluetooth 'handsfree' only though.

My understanding is that the phone module also allows rSAP over bluetooth, which is much better (it accesses just the SIM in the phone, but it uses the phone and the more powerful antenna built into the car itself to make the calls). But I have an iphone, which doesn't allow rSAP, so can't give you first-hand experience. As mentioned above, the phone module also gives you the SIM slot.

What he said. Why anyone willingly chooses grey or black for Convertibles is beyond me. It's a Summer car FFS!

^it's an all-year-round car! As long as the OPC remembered to include the heated seats in the order ;-)

But if you use the car and don't want to have to keep washing it at this time of year, Agate Grey is a pretty fantastic colour for not looking like cr*p when it's actually completely covered in cr*p.

I have to say that I have been pretty disappointed with the Bose system. Thumpy base and shrill treble. My humble Fiat 500's system sounds better.

Maybe it's a personal thing, but I would recommend having a good listening comparison before deciding.

Have you ticked the little box for sound surround in the audio menu? Until I ticked the box mine sounded very average.

the other thing is to make sure that there is at least 3 inches of space between rear speakers and front seats

Yes. I've ticked and unticked every setting I could find... but still can't say I'm happy with it. Sound lacks clarity...

You'll never get clarity from Bose due to the way it processes sound. The saying goes "Bose - all mids, no highs or lows". Mine is resting in peace in the attic...

Indeed, very happy with my choice of Bose in the 981 - sounds great (to my ears at least, and that's all that matters smile)

It took me a short while to get used to and now I'm very happy with it. Not least because I recently had a loan car with the base stereo - and it seemed very poor in comparison.

One thing annoys me though - no automatic speed-related volume adjustment on the Bose!! Absolutely infuriating, especially with no volume control on the steering wheel and the volume knob on the other side of the car.

Absolutely - hence my suggestion that he should have a good listen before deciding…

The Burmester system sounds very good - I listened to it in a Cayman and was impressed by everything except the price!

Finally made it back to the Nordschleife once again for a few laps. Very impressed by the car which is, of course, a lot more capable than me! Didn't get in the way of many GT2s and 3s (well, ok, quite a few actually).

Some of the 981's ancestors were also in attendance...
