Hi all Have been reading the thread here for a bit getting some ideas Wife & I currently have two cars - A6 Avant TDI for day to day stuff and ferrying the chocolate labrador around, and a TTRS roadster S-Tronic for fun. We chose the TTRS in January 2011 knowing that the previous Boxster was soon to be superseded, and bought it as a fun car for us both after I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a little while back. 981 seems to be getting some rave reviews, and I've always wanted a Porsche, so took Porsche Aberdeen's demo Boxster S with PDK out for a very quick drive on Friday, and have a longer test drive booked for next week. They also had a Guards Red Boxster S showroom car As it was pouring down with rain, never had a chance to really get to grips with the car, but the ride quality on the PASM equipped car on 20s was really quite impressive - better than our TTRS 19s without Magnetic Ride. Power delivery of the turbo'd 5 pot TTRS is much more immediate, but it is the more powerful car anyway. Can't really compare the engine sounds from a 1/2 hour drive - I don't think the demo car had the sports exhaust, but will try to compare against the TTRS, which has a really atmospheric 'growl' under load I did think the multi-function wheel felt rather cheap & thin to hold, and much prefer the TTRS wheel - also much prefer the look of the Sport Design wheel to the standard wheel - it seems a pity that you can't get a multi-function version of the Sport Design steering wheel, or am I mistaken? Absolutely love the S-Tronic 7 speed on the TTRS, but perhaps fancy a change back to a manual if we change to the 981 If we did change, this is the likely spec: Boxster or Boxster S in manual Agate Grey Metallic, Black roof Agate Grey / Pebble Grey Leather package with partial leather seats Mesh wind deflector ParkAssist front and rear Bi-Xenon lighting system with Dynamic Light System (PDLS) 19-inch Boxster S wheel Seat heating 2-zone automatic air conditioning Cruise control Floor mats SportDesign steering wheel Aluminum pedals Aluminium brushed interior package Audio / Communications Porsche Communication Management (PCM) & Telephone module for PCM Sound Package Plus

You probably don't need PSE but I would personally add it as it sounds incredible. I would also go for the manual over the PDK as it is more fun. Goo luck add leather center console trim to remove that bit of shiny plastic .. a mere £162

Quick question please guys. With a full black leather interior is the stitching going to be black or contrast and can it be specified?
I would prefer it in a grey tbh.

Mutt said: It's black. Thanks. Just asked the dealer if I can spec grey. Ill post whether they say yay or nay. EDIT - Yes but £££thousands (as mentioned below, thansk Mutt). Seems what ive seen and thought was contrasting stitching in porkers was matchings titching that wasnt quite the same colour as the leather. So, its what I wanted anyway it seems. Right, finalised....... Porsche Boxster 3.4S Floor Mats Agate Grey metallic 20 inch Carrera classic wheel Black cabriolet roof Sports Seats Plus full leather interior in black Deletion of model designation Park assist front and rear Top tinted windscreen Roll over bar with exterior colour paint finish Electrically retractable exterior mirrors Mesh wind deflector Manual transmission PASM Sports Exhaust system Cruise control Seat heating Full Leather package Sport design steering wheel Aluminiun brushed Interior package Aluminium brushed centre console trim PCM with nav Telephone prep Porsche logo in headrests Sound package plus Just waiting for Silverstone date and delivery date now.

My dilemma is this: I'm not going in with an open ended budget, but def getting the S. I have gone for all the 'essentials' but the i need to decide on the wheels, if i go 20" i believe i need to get PASM. I then cant get the PSE which i believe is awesome. SO.... either 20" with PASM or 19" with PSE. Finally is manual def the way to go over PDK? I currently have PDK selected, although with the sports steering wheels with the paddles. I really don't believe PSE is a must .. standard engine and exhaust sound is very loud, almost as loud as 987 with PSE on. You don't get the crackles and pops on lift off, and it's not as loud, but non PSE is pretty good. Only you can decide if it's worth it, try them at Silverstone.
I would go 19" with PASM, manual and no PSE, but add bucket seats.

In my personal opinion - I would definitely choose again if I had to re-spec my 981
PDK cos the thing is so bloody quick you wouldn't know whether to change gear or keep a hold of the steering wheel if you specced a manual.
PSE cos it just sounds absolutely awesome and gives you an aural treat compared to the non PSE (It does sound a lot better with PSE i can assure you.)
20" wheels PASM or not as both rides on 20" very comfortable aswell as grips the road - PASM would really be suited to more flatter road surfaces as when in sport mode it really really stiffens up.
Sport chrono with PDK as sports plus mode is very very responsive when in auto mode.
