I'd want to hear it - it's a fair bit of wedge and the standard pipes do sound good. But yes, I'd be tempted to tick it anyway - is it REALLY that much better than standard? My wife actually suggested I go back around the Dartford Bridge, and pay an extra £3 just so we could go back through the tunnel - and that was with the standard exhaust (in 2nd, roof down, in a tunnel, maximum throttle, it was simply sublime).
Luckily at Hindhead there's a roundabout almost at each end of the tunnels.

Very thoughtful for repeated runs or for slowing up to open the roof before entering and then closing afterwards for onward journey.

Thought much the same. My dealer was SO excited about PSE, I decided "what the heck, I'm buying this car for pleasure so let's add some more smile-factor..."

I have said it and will continue to say it. PSE is without doubt the best option on my list of many many options that I picked on my 981S. It' sounds IMO a hell of a lot better than the std setup especially now it's run in at 2500 miles. PSE PSE PSE

I think that some people who didn't or couldn't order it are talking PSE down a little. That's just my impression.

If you'd like an exhaust that crackles, pops and howls and you don't mind spending the money, then it's worth ticking. Does it make the car much better than a standard one? No, of course it doesn't. But it definitely adds an element of pleasure that I would be happy to pay for again.

If you read back and see how I came to order one (whim) and bear in mind it's my DD (replacing my now sold JCW Mini) so I don’t have to use my (now 4.5 years old but still mint) E92M3 everyday (I know, you're thinking "what?") you start to realise that the whole process has been utter idiocy so a £1400 exhaust is a minor point frankly.

But if we weren’t idiots about our cars, we wouldn’t be warbling on about every minor point on here eh. In fact, given that thought, I think it should be mandatory to order the PSE or be banned from PH surely? Pointless cars and related paraphernalia is what separates us from the masses isn’t it?

Just turned 1100 miles and without doubt the PSE is the only option that is essential!! Great with it switched off , but awesome with it on, as testified by many fellow Porsche drivers behind me during a two day thrash around the Kent countryside. Worth every penny of the 1400 odd quid. By balancing the throttle at different revs. you have an orchstra to play with. Didn't upgrade the sound system and haven't used it at all so far. Says it all really!!

PSE now added to the spec sheet, much the same as others "it's only another £1500, get it added!" biggrin However, it really does sound (pardon the pun) well worth the money from people's experiences on here.

For those that are interested I was told that it can also be retrofitted although for how much I don't know.

I did - got the BOSE, sounds ok but doesn't add an sparkle to the music, not worth the money.

I'm quoting the Mrs there "why are you such an idiot about your cars?" and she tells me she's always right (it was in our marriage vows) so I can't argue because she can't be wrong about always being right, can she?

£1450 for a sports exhaust? Who would pay that? You would have to be mad.

What? I did? Doh.
It's £1772 on the 991!!
Yes but it's shorter on the 911...

We are just about to add a 981s to the family. I am confused though, having read the majority of the thread I am amazed that aircon is an optional extra. When we specced the car in the dealer yesterday they never mentioned aircon as an option. When I spec the car on online configurator it does not show aircon (or cruise control) as an option. So is aircon still an option, or now standard?

/EDIT
Doh, nevermind I found both Cruise Control and 2-zone Aircon (@518 GBP) on the online configurator.

Mine is delivered now and I adore it, done over 300 miles in 2 days, .

I did tick nearly all the boxes, but one in which I question is the Bose, really to be honest the sound of the sports exhaust is so good that I dont want the radio too loud. Its ok the Bose but not worth the extra dosh IMO.

Eveything else I would tick , its a fantastic car

Yeah, I agree with this. BOSE sounds good but I rarely use it due to the exhaust!

Aircon is standard, it's the climate that's an option(as you've discovered)

Hi Guys

potential 981 boxster buyer here!

was looking to get a cayman, but this new boxster is starting to sway me.

question though, after i spec up a boxster and a boxster s i am coming in at

42.3k for the boxster
49k for the boxster s

they all have been specced the same (20" wheels / PSE) so the only difference is the engine ? and the painted calipers ?

can anyone suggest to me one way or another which they would consider to be the better option?

thank youu!

You're just not trying hard enough. £55-60K is the norm smile
