42.3k for the boxster
49k for the boxster s
they all have been specced the same (20" wheels / PSE) so the only difference is the engine ? and the painted calipers ?
S/non-S differences I know of are:49k for the boxster s

Front slats painted (-) or black (S)
Single exhaust (-) or twin exhaust (S)
Standard headlights (-) or BiXenon headlights (S)
S also gets leather on armrests and centre console lid
Black rev counter dial (-) or silver rev counter dial (S)
Black brakes (-) or red brakes (S) {indicating brake size}
There might be more differences...

S also has bigger discs at the front: 330mm instead of 315mm
you think the engine, discs and calipers are worth the extra 7k?bobpies said:

you think the engine, discs and calipers are worth the extra 7k?in the long run, cheaper to go more power. once you get used to how capable the chassis is, you will want more urge.
drive both and decide for yourself

Without doubt the engine in the S compared to the standard is far more beefier - Dont get me wrong the Standard is fine if all you care about is the looks of the car and a bit of grunt - BUT if you like to go fast and hard pardon the pun you have gotta get the Sport "Its a no brainer for 7K"
Yet the 2.7 981 is as fast, if not faster than the original 3.2S Boxster which people raved about. RichB said:

The handling is sublime in all of the mid engined platforms however IMO £7k for a better spec of engine plus brakes lights etc etc would be the no brainer for me after spending that amount of cash - The 981s is a far superior car to the 987 986 etc in relation to performance but dont get me wrong you can have some great fun in all of them but I feel the 981s is a really serious machine now withe the performance & handling.i think the difference in brakes is only about 15mm on the front, the rears are the same (obviously the caliper colour differs)
i'm also looking at a 2.7, but its coming in at £48.5K and the S is £54.5K
the dealer was suggesting the 2.7 would be fine as i'm going PDK, if i went manual then the S is the way to go. I test drove a 2.7 PDK and it seemed plenty quick enough, its not devastatingly fast (noticeably slower than my old 997.1S) but the days of hauling round on the road everywhere are pretty much over with congestion and speed cameras and i can't risk using it on track due to the value.(gonna get a cheap track slag)
Oh the 2.7 PDK has lower road tax, i'm doing 20k miles pa so the extra economy is fairly important to me as well.
saying all that i've got an extended drive in a S PDK next week... that's probably not a good idea

You said it all when you said the days of hauling round on the road everywhere are pretty much over - Then the 2.7 makes sense.
Bye the way I am not an Standard phhhhh Sports Snob - But if you feel the need for the power increase then go do it.
Taken from my comment on another thread - just too lazy to type it out again.
Got my Boxster S in August - They are hugely practical and myself and my golfing buddy get our 2 pencil bags in the rear boot with 2 drivers and 2 rescue woods plus shoes waterproofs etc no problem at all. Front boot gets 2 massive sized soft ie not hard plastic cases in for our luggage and when the wives permit were off to wherever - Gleneagles next weekend as they have a good 4 ball offer on - What more can be said for the 981 Boxster S - Absolutely brilliant car every day driver / Top speed Hell Racer & even would be great if used on track.
Only bad point is that I have a small family and may be forced to sell due to practical reasons and might have to buy the 991 as it has 4 seats - Bugger that as I think the Boxster is a better Porsche than all of the other models.
So if anyone interested let me know. boohoo
Spec is bountiful with PSE PASM Sports Chrono PTV etc etc

then theres the looming cayman 981 which kind of throws a spanner in the works for me cuz i prefer the look of the cayman when the boxster has its roof up (which will be 90% of the time)
No the roof is fantastic - also on the 991 cab aswell I think they both look great now as they follow the lines of the cars much better - A big plus point for me as you said roof up 90% of the time. I love the lines on both cabs now with the exception of the 991 cab roof down as the car reminds me of a large Mickey Mouse slipper. No dig at the Caymanas a car but I think the rake angle and length of the back is just far too long which makes it look a little bit weird - Hope they change it on the new Cayman.

I think I may be forced to sell as the wife keeps telling me I also need to ferry the kids about and not just her. A 991 should teach her as thats another £20 grand off the house moving budget.
only prob i have is transporting the dog about. test driving the cayman and boxster this afternoon so will see how that pans out.
