So after waking up at 3:40am this morning and spending the next hour staring at the ceiling I decided to give up and get up.
In about 2 hours time I'll be clambering aboard the Pendolino service from Macclesfield to Euston, heading across town to Chiswick where a friend is meeting me to take me last past of the journey over to Uxbridge to collect the 996 mkII GT3 from 991Virgin.
Excited doesn't begin to cover it.
I'll update this through the day.
I have to say that dealing with Dan and Tom at 911Virgin has been a genuine pleasure. Looking forward to meeting them and seeing the car for the first time. And yes, I am that guy that bought a GT3 sight unseen... What could possibly....

Good luck, Jack. A GT3 is a very fine thing. A very fine thing, indeed. I'm green with envy. And a bit drunk. And off to bed. Hopefully I will forget your good fortune in the morrow. Please drive the snot out of it for me.

As you get older and the weight of the world becomes an ever bigger burden it seems like there becomes fewer and fewer things that genuinely give you this sort of experience. Glad you're so excited about picking it up. (Sorry if the above sounds a bit melodramatic)

Pounding across the British countryside care of Virgin. As much as I like cars, 1:45 minutes from Macc to London with wifi, food, drinks and a comfy seat for 60 quid is a bargain.

Awesome stuff, picking up a GT3 and watching quali with no distractions - not even a floater in the train bogs could put a downer on such a perfect day!! I hope to have a similar one very soon.
Let us know all about first impressions.
Cheers

I can remember a very similar day a few years ago.
I also bought a GT3 Mk II sight unseen - and it was by far the best car out there of all that I had looked at and came with a fresh Porsche warranty which helped!
York to London on the train. Then into the car and the drive home.
Fantastic - enjoy your day to the max.
