Just went out for a quick drive in mine this morning - still running her in, so was unable to open the taps completely. It was fun though, the car just scythes through bends. The pace you can keep up beggars belief - it really does remind me of my mate's souped up series 1 Lotus Elise he had about 10 years ago. In that car you also felt like you could take corners at any speed and at any angle that took your fancy! Oh and H&T downshift sounds wonderfully crisp I also notice that cars move aside for it - so it must look like it can keep up a serious pace too! Cannot wait to do a track day, I so need to see what she's really capable of!

One thing though, do you find that although there is endless grip, the front end feels a little light? It just slightly reduces my confidence in taking corners fast, but sure I'll get use to it. The Silverstone experience should hopefully help.

Returning from a recent run I attempted to mollify SWMBO by picking up a couple of cases of wine. The added weight in the front was certainly noticeable even at a (relatively) sedate pace. I too have yet to do the Silverstone Experience- it's a bit of a jaunt from my neck of the woods. Will get there sometime.

I find the chassis incredibly confidence-inspiring. I haven't driven it flat out yet but virtually every corner I've been through at a reasonable lick I've thought, " I could have been round there loads faster ". Hence why I really want to do a track day!

Apologies for the tangential question, but this seems a good place to ask - I am hoping to take my R (with PSE) to Goodwood with Lotus On Track in September. Goodwood, of course, has very strict noise limits. Does anyone know whether the R passes a 98db static test (I would obviously turn off the PSE!)?
BTW, reading some of the comments above I have to agree. Only managed 700 miles so far (so just beginning to give the car full berries); the handling is simply sensational - I'd go so far as to say the best of any car I've driven bar my little Rocket. The simplicity of the passive set up just works so well. I also love how well it puts its power down; an M car scrabbles where the R just finds grip.
Cheers

Cheers Hi Stefan - I looked at doing Goodwood with LoT as well - was advised against it by a friend, who told me that a GTS was sent home from Goodwood while he was there. My GTS noise tested at 98db at both Brands and Bedford and was quieter than the CR. Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk. I agree though - it just seems to find grip everywhere, I love the passive set-up. In fact it's the only passive sports suspension available on a new Porsche! Brilliant!

Bedford seemed to think they never have issues with anything other than modified or GT/turbo Porsches over there. I'd imagine Goodwood should be fine in CR.
