Ok, so after thinking long and hard about 997's a sweet 996 GT3 came up,
What can I say bar this is as good as buying a new car (Thanks Ashley for looking after it)

As these things seem to be hard to find, well nice one's, I looked at a few and thought I would give it a miss, to many tatty ones and a lot with no work done on them. even some of the more expensive ones looked well used with very worn or cracked leather on the seats.

So when cars like Ashleys pop you, you have to make a snap choice and just go for it.
All I can say is it's like brand new, bar the tyres which need a new set, but it was still on it's org fronts :-)
I don't think it's ever been on track and has only 20k miles on it, with a load of bills to back up how it's been looked after.(and big ones to boot)

Not a nice round trip though 5 hours in the rain, but it was sunny on pic up.

I did think it ws a bit slow tee hee(look at my mpg pic) was used to 400lb/ft at 2k revs :-)

but then I found out what happens at 6k+ revs lol, it's been a while since drove my mates 997 GT3.

I have always wanted to try a GT3 engine and after missing out on a few over the years to CSL's etc etc today I got my 1st 911 and a GT3 to boot :-)
I'll post a pic of the inside over the week end, I cannot get over how good it is inside condition wise.

See you at Silverstone Sunday if any one is going for the Boxster launch event.

it's like tickover at 70mph at 2.8k revs

TT has gone :-( will be missed.

Spyder is a keeper for the summer and a few track days.
I love the Spyder, it's got that special something :-)

Totally agree think a GT3 is all I would part with mine for. Perfect having that and the Spyder. Enjoy! Look forward to more pics and some feedback in comparison to the Spyder.

There seem to be quite a few of these that have been on the market for some time now, that tells anyone with two brain cells to rub together that they're way too expensive and not particularly sought after. I think the Mk 1 is much better value for money than the later car.

These are hoplessly overpriced at the moment, I hope you didn't pay more than £25K for it as with that sort of mileage they're not worth anymore in my opinion. All the moreso as it's got the overrated leather bucket seats in.

What tyres does it have fitted ? They're not Nankang remoulds are they ? I'm pretty sure they're not N rated ? If they're not, you won't be able to get a warranty on it, you know that don't you ?

That colour is pretty ordinary for a GT3 too, so I'd knock another £5K off its value actually. Oh hold on, it's not a Clubsport is it ? I think £20K is all I'd want to pay for it.

See what I did there ? I tried talking the price down . . . . (and it had NO effect whatsoever)

(Before you all get on your high horses, all the above is in jest)

However mrdemon, this bit isn't.

Despite the initially unhelpful thread you started and the subsequent comments you and others made regarding the "incorrect" tyres and reduced warranty term on my Gen 1 '7 GT3 that 911V recently had advertised on my behalf, it sold within three weeks for the full asking price (which was approximately £9k over what you'd have been be prepared to pay for it IIRC . . . . ) wink

Please be aware that just because you A. Think the current values of Gen 1 997 GT3 are overpriced or B. You can't afford one, please don't try talking the prices down, the punters IN the marketplace decide the market value of cars, not keyboard "dealers" such as yourself. rolleyes

I hope you enjoy your car. They're a fantastic drive (albeit nothing like as good as the Mk 1 version)

Lol interesting post.

no warranty on my car so free to use which ever tyres I like.
I did back up on your thread that super sports are a better tyre but again not N spec so misleading.

I still think your was over priced with that mileage but then it sold fast, so it clearly was not.
That's only IMO and why I did not buy a 997. I am free to post my thoughts you know ;-)
Mr harris was non to pleased with 997 retail and trade pricing, but he has more than made up his loss.lol

There are some nice 997.1 for sale now at Jzm for 54k with OPC warranty only 17k miles as well.
I always said I had 55k for one, no more. So your 9k extra does not add up.
I still think low 50k for 997.1 with more than 20k on them.
As for the reduced warranty on your car, that needed pointing out to buyers because it was very misleading in the advert.

As for not affording one lol yes there are keyboard warriors and dealers, but I put my money where my mouth is.

Indeed, but not half as "interesting" as some of your posts regarding the values of Gen 1 997 GT3s have been to current owners wink

Without trawling through your old posts I seem to remember your "valuation guidelines" reduced a Gen 1s worth according to its spec, mileage and colour etc. On the basis of your "valuation" my car would've been worth approx £50K rofl

(in fact, have another) rofl

Really ? Does it not strike you as strange that it hasn't sold ? Or indeed that they have this car for sale :

With more miles for significantly more money. Perhaps you should do your homework before commenting on a car you clearly know nothing about and most likely have not inspected.

Of course it did. Tom, Henry and Dan spend all day, every day writing misleading adverts. I suspect it's the reason they sell so few cars silly

I on the other hand think it safe to say that the good folks at 911V would've pointed that out to any potential purchasers. But thanks all the same, I appreciate your concern for general buying public. rolleyes
